Birthday and Christmas pressies

Birthday and Christmas pressies
I had one of the nicest Birthday and Christmases I have had for many a year and it was all down to quilting. My Patchwork ladies gave me a lovely Birthday tea and I was so spoiled with some lovely pressies but what was so nice that nearly all of them were hand made. I had a lovely mini Tote full of smelly bathroom treats, a lovely shoulder handbag, knitted cosy night slippers etc.
I had suggested to the ladies last Autumn so make home made pressies, they thought the idea was so good that they suggested it to their families, so they all saved lots of monies and gave some lovely pressies, most of them bags which were hugely popular but in return got some lovely home made knits and baked items. They are now going to be a family tradition, makes me feel warm all over
Reminds me of child hood when all pressies was home made tho' necessity, because of the war..

pressies = presents
QAddictUK ... how nice that everyone "heard" your suggestion! Happy Belated Birthday wishes to you!!!
A year ago, my "adopted" family switched the gift exchange to be "something you made", one gift each for the swap. It made for some great conversations ... and some hidden talents in the clan were discovered. The creativity was amazing both last and this year!

What was a wonderful side benefit is that one of our ladies who has some serious health issues went down with Pneumonia before Christmas, and thought she wouldn't be able to continue with her quilting as her machine was making everything so stressful, you all know what it's like when your machine does crappy things! She also as she had been unwell hadn't done her present shopping.
To cut a long story short I have her my Elna 7200 which I had recently upgraded and suggested she make everyone home made gifts. Well I was a receiver of one her lovely home made bags and I was thrilled with it as was the rest of her family who thought she was amazing, well we all do as she if a lovely lady. The other super side effect of this is that all her family knows what to buy her for birthdays and Christmas, next year they are paying for the machine to be serviced but this Christmas her daughter-in-law presented her with a huge box absolutely brimful of beautiful quilting things, it was gorgeous but she won't unpack it yet as she shows if off to everyone that visits, wouldn't you.
Just to show you what a wonderful lady she is this is a pic of her with her favorite fan, my Muffin

Such a cute picture. That is a wonderful idea that you got started. Homemade items are always nice. All I do now is make quilts, all of my family have several of them. We just decided this year that dinner and company of each other would be great.
Happy Birthday by the way. Even tho it may be late. By you saying pressies instead of presents should be easy to understand. Have a great day.
