My friend and I went to our favorite LQS yesterday and spent 3 fun hours there! The owner is such a delight and we always come home having had a "lesson" in something. She has her own fabric line/patterns, etc etc - just a delightful and talented lady. BUT we did notice the prices had jumped $2 and $2.50 a yard!! Just a bit shocked at such a jump. I have heard it here before, but none the less a shock! My stash is looking better and better!

I noticed the big increases the last time I was there. $10-11.49 a yard for the new bolts! Yikes! Those shops who offer discounts for guild members and class supply discounts have to up their prices in order to offer those incentives. Shop from the stash!

So true- for some reason the higher prices decrease the beauty of the fabric!

I agree! Fabric just doesn't look as pretty as it used too.

I quit buying because of the higher prices.

yes, I agree with cojomamma, fabric isn't as pretty as it used to be. I don't buy much either anymore prefering to "make due". Now is the time to use the stash that I have been saving for when .... besides we are on the "puppy list" and my cousin says can't have just one need to take two so the doggie doodle budget will outshine the fabric budget for awhile. we already have three but two are retired and don't work much anymore (did minimal to begin with!). One is only brave when there is a fence between her and the cows or stands behind me after she irritates one. wanted to get a pup while aggie rose can still work and train it with her or so the thought goes.....I have drifted from fabric again so back to sewing my brothers quilt this morning.....

In my area the LQS's have lower prices on batiks than Joanne's! Go figure! And the quality is better too! So I go to the LQS's to drool! :)
I am using my stash, and have found Bonnie Hunter's site to be most helpful! www.quiltville.com

I had the same thing happen at a local Ben Franklin store. I went there because I needed some cheap fabric. I knew what the quality would be and I was right but it sure wasn't cheap! I should have just went to Joanne's and used a coupon but since I was there I went ahead and bought it.

The prices are just too high! I stumbled across a site the other day & the fabric was $14.95/ yard!! No way I'm paying anything near that!!

Last year Thousands of Bolts told me they will have a big sale before Xmas. I'm waiting for that. Last yr at that time, I bought alot for just over $3.00 / yard from them.
Hoping for the same $$$ this year!
