The numbers aren't divisible for flying geese, but who said all geese have to be the same size? Make 1 large goose followed by 2 small geese and or add a spacer fabric (like a 1 inch piano key) between some geese. This will appear more whimsical if they are different and oddly spaced.

I would choose an orange fabric for the border. You could use a print that's swirly like the purple or mottled like the green. Or something different from both. I'd choose orange because 1) it's unexpected, and 2) it's the other "secondary" color on the color wheel. (Primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. The secondary colors are derived like this: red + blue = purple; yellow + blue = green; red + yellow = orange.) I guess I should add 3) I love color! The more the merrier in my book!

This looks like fun! I think I would surround it with pinwheels. You could incorporate lots of different colors into it with pinwheels, & it would keep that bias design going. =} You could spin them either way....or both ways.
