Is there any such thing as a 'quilters elbow'?
I am right handed, and have been having pain in my right elbow area from time to time. Does anyone else eve have pain in the elbow area? I don't necessarily have to have been doing anything to aggravate my elbow either. Have Orthopedic apt on Monday to see about it.
Just curious to know if anyone else has ever had this' problem.
Thank you

Are you a hand quilter or machine quilter? I would think it's possible. Tennis elbow is a repetitive type of injury caused by poor ergonomics. Quilters can work in a non-ergonomically friendly environment too. The injury to the elbow would not be of exactly the same type, though.

I get the funny feeling that you are experiencing 'tennis elbow'. It really is just stress on the joint and surrounding ligaments. If that is the case, there is no real cure--just treat the symptoms and try to find a more comfortable way of cutting/sewing/quilting.
BTW there is a support available (I think it is a sort of strap that just presses on the specific area) and is not very expensive. Hugs. Hope it feels better soon.

Yes, I get pain in my elbow - it feels like someone is pinching my funny bone (but its not funny and it hurts) my husband calls it quilters elbow too. I usually take ibuprofen and take it easy for a couple of days to let it rest. I don't know what else you can do for it.

I have this also but it didn't start with quilting. I was a hotel housekeeper for 10 months & that's when it started. I'm also right handed and cleaning 10-18 rooms per day really did it to my elbow. Now I have 3 days cleaning for private clients & it will still flare up once in a while but not daily.

No trouble with elbow thank goodness. But I do get a stiff neck if I do tooooomuch sewing on the machine or hand. I have discovered if I change every hour it doesn't happen only a few hours in one position .
When I do too much my shoulders will have an ache.
I guess if I ask the doctor he will say old age.
