I have tried many different thimbles and have not found any to be really comfortable to use. The last was those leather ones that can be moisted and molded to the finger. While cleaning out my medicine chest I came across some finger cots. I tried one! It works great. I just bought a box of 144 of them online for $1.91 on ebay. I am a happy camper.
Does anyone else use latex finger cots? What is your preference

I used them at work for many purposes... I like the rubber ones best sold at office supply stores. I think I would destroy the finger cots after a couple of dozen stitches LOL

I use the latex exam gloves. I just cut off the fingers and use them. They only last one quilting session for me but I only use 2 at a time. One box holds 100 gloves = 500 fingers. I use them to pull the needle -- they aren't much good in protecting your fingers like a leather thimble though. To me the finger cots are more like the latex gloves than thimbles.

I have a Roxanne thimble I simply adore! don't use anything but my Roxanne--spendy!

I have 3 thimbles and find them all okay. Can't sew without a thimble.

Oh Franie! I just looked up those Roxanne thimbles! You're right, they are spendy! I'm afraid with my klutzie self, I'd lose it! :)

I've never mastered sewing WITH a thimble! Guess I just developed good callouses???

I just can't get the hang of thimbles :oops: LOL

Which usually means that a small part of me goes with each quilt :wink:

I use surface guard that I purchased at a local hardware store, one sheet has many different sizes - 46 pieces, I use them for me handsewing and when they lose the stickiness I get another - cheap and comfortable.
