all good advice and I am going to continue using C&C. My machines like that better than any (vintage machines) and I am happy with it. Thanks everyone.

No, poly threads don't cut into the cottons. Yes, it is a myth.

I hava an HQ16 and use Connecting Threads polyester cone thread on all my quilts. Works great.

Prism99 - It's funny, but I have found the opposite when using poly thread while piecing. I use the leftover polyester on my M Class bobbins for piecing and find the seams seem much flatter when I do that.

I do remember double knits, and you're right, they seem to be indestructible.
