I am making the turning twenty quilt 54 x 54 style. The instructions say I need to cut (2) 62 inches x width of fabric. By my calculations I would end up with a backing size about 88 x 104 inches. Wouldn't I just need (2) 36 inches x width of fabric and end up with about 88 x 72? What am I missing? Again...what would I do without quilters... :)

If you sew 2 rectangles that are 64 x WOF together, you'd have a rectangle that was 64 x 88 ..... sounds right to me for what you are trying to get. Or am I mis-interpreting what you are trying to do?

Rachel

PS (you'd have to sew 4 of these rectangles together to get 128 x 88) .....

hehe, well I did the exact same thing not too long ago, I thought 2 packs of charm squares would make a 60 x 70 quilt, but it would be 4, so that was the only reason I recognized the mistake!! :) :) :)

Cheers!

I've been there too. Sometimes my brain takes a while to engage.
