You did indeed get a great deal. At last the family did not consider them "trash" to be tossed out. I'm happy that you passed on what you could not use to a good cause.

Nothing worse than to waste something that can go to another good source and be used. They may not have known who to contact especially if they lived miles away from the estate. Many have made out by your generosity.

Unfortunately there isn't anymore Auction places in my town but there are a couple of Estate places, but the owner of the one that has the most Estate Sales knows quilters are on the hunt so she prices the quilting/sewing items up pretty high. I really go lucky with the older Tin Lizzie18 I got from her the day before the sale.

What a blessing for you, the neighbor and her quilt group, and the ones who will have a hug from the quilts they receive. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

I don't at all see how some of you think this is a bad thing. Do you know how many people just toss things into the dump? Her family knew this hobby had meaning to her, and it just may have been her request to have them sell it for $1, so anyone of any financial means could carry it forward.

Your timing was perfect, maybe you were picked. Either way, you made more of it by giving to others and you can't beat that.

It is nice that her stash went to a good home and not donated to the local dump site. Have fun sewing and creating. I'm sure your neighbor was happy with the left overs.

A big stash left of anyone's hobby is overwhelming to deal with. The ones left to deal with it just want it gone.
