Default What would you do with this beautiful panel

I bought this panel in a charity shop. It measures about 66x72 ins and has the most gorgeous colours of flowers and there is another panel same size covered in butterflies which I would love to use as a backing. I saw on here some time ago where if the panel is cut into squares and sashed it looks like window panes. can anyone help me with this as to what size I should cut the panel as there is a center bunch and I'm not sure how to go about it.

send it to me? (ha! ha!) That is just beautiful. It's one of those pieces I would keep around, afraid to cut up.

I would try and fussy cut the groups of flowers but I think I'd go with a rectangle rather than a square. It just seems to lend itself to that. For the windowing (sashing) you could go with an attic window setting but I think it would look very nice with regular sashing around it. Are the butterfly groupings about the same size as the flowers?

What about cutting them in a diamond shape? the blocks would be on point and you would get more of each ploral desing in each block.

Before cutting it up why don't you leave it as is and just play with some sashing by laying across. Take couple of photos and go from there.

The pattern that looks like windows is...Attic Windows. I think there is a tutorial on QB for Attic Windows

What a find!!!! what I've done in the past is to cut a window the size of the FINISHED block I'm thinking of in a large sheet of paper, poster board works well. You can move this around and see what parts of the print will be isolated. You can cut different sizes and shapes. You can re use the windows for other large print projects. Just remember that when you decide on a size, add the seam allowance when you actually cut!

Since it is quite large, why not leave it whole (maybe add borders) and just quilt it?
