I use 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" , I feel comfortable with these measurements doing quilts. Gives a very nice and neat binding.

2-1/2" for me. Don't know why, it's just what I've always used.

I'm one of the few that uses 3". When I started quilting I did the wrap binding, then the 2 1/2" binding. I saw a trunk show by M'lis Rae (can't remember the last name) and she said she did 3" bc she wanted to be sure she got a good bite on the edge. The edge, binding of a quilt is the most handled part of a quilt. It made sense to me so do a 3" binding.
We would worry less about what others think of us if we realized how seldom they do.

That's what I use too, occasionally if it's thinner batting I will use 2.5" and also use a 3/8" seam. Still have trouble getting the stitch in the ditch to come out right on both sides though even with special pinning that one of the quilters at our retreat showed us.

2.5 inches unless I am running short of fabric.

I use 2 1/2. But the net time I am going to sew a 3/8 seam.

Asking a seamstress to mend is like asking Picasso to paint your garage.
