Default Can anyone explain these cutting directions for me?

I was looking at a free pattern for a quilt that I liked and reading thru the pattern, came upon these directions which I cannot figure out:
•Fabric D: Cut sixty-four 33/8” squares.
•Fabric E: Cut ninety-six 33/8” squares.
•Fabric F: Cut thirty-two 33/8” squares.
•Fabric G: Cut sixty-four 2˝” x 3” strips.
•Backing: Piece into one 66” square.

What are 33/8" squares? I don't think it's a typo as it is repeated thruout the pattern directions.
Here is a link to the pattern: http://www.favecrafts.com/Quilting/B...rings-Creative

Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me!

My guess is that it should be 3 3/8" squares which is certainly an odd size when seam allowances are added. Can you contact the designer or publisher and ask them about it. Otherwise no clue. The designer is the one to go to. Check their web site to see if there is an error notice. You might make a test block to see if 3 3/8 is correct.
I still would contact the designer.

LOL, well my face is red ! Isn't that the most obvious thing to think of first? But not once did it enter my mind. That is the way the fibro fog hits you sometimes... now you can see why I do a lot of froggin'. LOL Not as much now that I've learned not to sew when I'm like this.. now I know not to cut either!!! Well, I already knew that too, I have some interesting scraps from those lessons.

Oh, Holice, that does include the seam allowance as that is the size to cut, not the finished size. Indeed an odd sized square regardless.

Good ideas all about contacting them to check it out also. Especially since it is such an odd size to cut and work with.
Hugs and smilesssssss.............

3 and 3/8th square made into half-square triangles makes 2 1/2" squares, I think. This would match the 2 1/2 x 3" blocks from fabric G.

All I got to say is that those are some strange finished sizes. They are certainly outside the normal sizes. I strongly suggest you do a test block first.

OHhhhhhhhhh they do go into HSTs.... had I read further I would have seen that. Now it begins to make more sense!!
Ty ty Krista! I think my best bet is to wait and reread the whole thing once the fog receeds. Sometimes I don't realize it's upon me till I do something like this. LMBO!!!!
Y'all are so awesomely great!!!!!
