Where can I buy "very lightweight" printing paper?

Oooh! That's great to know - about the newsprint.
I don't see me cutting it down that's for sure - it isn't worth the time although I do have a paper cutter.....
I have a few different paper pieced projects that are on my before the end of the year to do list. We don't have a Dick Blick here but maybe I can score a pad of it at Hobby Lobby - or just cut down one of the newspaper stubs... we'll see.
The last time I did pp I used regular recycled copy paper and had no problems ripping it at all but I would prefer to use the *right* stuff lol - newsprint works for me.

I have only used the Carol Doaks paper, but at 9 dollars for a pack, it is high. Love the idea of the newspaper, and we have a Hobby Lobby close, will check that out. The Carol Doaks paper is so easy to tear and remove, but it does remind me of the children's tablets we used as kids.

I use rice paper for paper piecing as it is easy to tear away as it is very light weight and you can see thru it. You can buy either sheets or 50 ft roles on Ebay. Prices very of course on Ebay but you can get a lot quite cheap.

Go to your local Uhaul dealer that sells boxes and packing supplies...get a box of wrapping paper there...a 10 lbs box, about 140 sheets that are about 20x27 inches...cost is $8.80. (It's also great for the kidlets! Give them a box of paper and a new box of crayons...they're busy for HOURS! )

Wow! These are all great ideas. I have used notebook 3 hole paper which is much lighter than 20lb. But, then my new printer would not pick it up! Had several other problems with the printer so it is gone and I am back to using up my notebook paper. When I run out I will try the cheap newsprint. I do have 3 boxes of Carol Doak paper given to me as gifts but agree that it is too expensive to buy!

At any place that sells art supplies you will find newsprint drawing pads (9 x 12 inches). I either cut down the pages myself or take the whole thing to what used to be Kinkos (now FEDEX) and have them cut it to 8 1/2 x 11). The pages tear very well, if you have problems with it, wetting it or washing little pieces out will not be a problem, and it is cheap.
I really want to find a source of newspaper endrolls so I can draw up my own. I don't always run through a printer and this would be ideal for me.
