I found 16# legal note pads at Office Max put out by Docket....50 sheets/pad, copy paper sized. I don't remember the exact cost, but so much less than PP paper at Pacific Fabrics or JoAnne's. Yes, it is ruled, but the light blue lines didn't effect the pattern. I found it went through my cheap copier just fine, and tore off very easily.

I sometimes use the back of junk mail (if blank) or paper from the copyier that I messed up to print on for paper piecing.

The newsprint we were talking about is print free paper. It is the stuff newpapers use to print on but hasn't yet for those who are a little confused. Printed newspaper might transfer inks when ironed to your fabric so be careful.

I went to a medical supply store and bought a roll of the paper they use on the examining table in the Dr's offices. I also bought a roll of the thin paper used by draftsmen and architects. Both work great and are not expensive. You have to cut, but it's worth it. And the rolls last FOREVER!

Can the paper cut from the rolls of paper go through a printer or copier?

As long as it is the same size as the paper your printer accepts.
