I also see it in Orlando maybe not as obvious as some but the one closest to me doesnt seem as good as the one farther away again thought it was just me.

A lot depends on the demographics for your area. The warehouse will send what seems to be selling at the moment. My local J/A is small, but has a large selection of apparel, home dec and keepsake quilting fabric, but very little nursery prints, and batiks. The manager is right--she is stuck with what the warehouse sends her.

[quote=TexasGurl]Just wondering WHY the selection and quality at different JoAnn's stores varies so much ???

Our Joann's near Willowbrook is pretty nice and it is clean with nice staff. Come up to the north west for a visit. Let me know and we will have Starbucks and chic chat.

Me too Gal and Aunt Doggie. That's why I can't buy fabric online. My JoAnns doesn't have the best selection either... and the closest LQS is going out of business. So sad.

Same in Missouri but I'm not sure about the clientele rating. One of the biggest Joann's in the St. Louis area is in a crappy neighborhood while the smaller ones are in well established "home towny feeling" areas. Makes no sense. It almost seems like they'd rather keep paying rent on a dumpy small space than move into a bigger nicer place. There is a smaller one in a nice area that is crammed full and the large one in the not so nice neighborhood looks half empty. They like to move managers around in this area, too so the layouts of the stores gets changed around every time the manager changes.
