I bought my clips from a manufacturer named Evergreen on Amazon. I can't tell the difference, except for the colors, between them and my Clover brand. Much less expensive!

I have both and although if I look very closely I can see minor differences, I do not find any functional difference.

I have lots, so it will be quite awhile before I buy more. When I do need more I will buy the less expensive option.

I have both and the main difference I've found is, as others have said, the spring. Some are fine, whilst others are stiff and definitely look to be made from a poorer quality metal.

However, for the money they cost (less than $4 for 50, including postage, direct from China) there's not much to complain about!

That's kind of like asking whether Northern tissue is the best or if "the other brands" are just as good. It depends whether you are comparing it to Charmin or whether you are comparing it to the 1-ply store brand.

The difficulty with most of the non-Clover Wonder Clips is that they don't have a brand attached, so you get what you get. Sometimes you'll get lucky & they're every bit as good (or close to it). More often, it seems the non-Clover ones have some sort of issue whether it's the spring, the type of metal rusting, burrs in the plastic or whatnot. Here's a link to a website where the blogger asked followers to share their experiences: http://so-sew-easy.com/budget-or-quality-wonder-clips/

I've bought the non-Clover brands - close enough for me, especially for the price. If there is a difference, I am not picky enough to notice. None of the "cheap" ones have fallen apart, and I now have enough to last about forever.

I use the hair clips - i have plenty in the bathroom vanity drawer that I just pull out when i need them.

Although - how easy to open/close are the true wonderclips? They would make great manipulatives for kids w/ fine motor skills. I use the wooden clothespins and the spring on those really stink.

For those who use the "off brand" Wonder Clips, do they have the measurement marks on the flat side like the Clover ones do?

I had the little red Clover clips for a while and decided to try the "fake" ones. I can't tell a difference at all. For the price I'd go with the cheap ones and *if* one or two broke or whatever, you're still better off.
