~Fun on the Farm~ Block swap : Sign up Closed

This is a swap for anything you might see on a farm! That means things like farm houses, barns, chickens, eggs, pigs, cows, sheep, horses, ducks, gardens, scarecrows, tractors, farmers, goats, canning jars, ladies in aprons doing chores, sunflowers....just to name a few!

The sign-up will be for sets of 6 alike blocks. The limit will be 4 sets per swapper. The swap is now open to sign up for all levels of quilters.
***You WILL NOT receive one of your blocks back for this swap***

*Blocks can be any size divisible by 3" (plus 1/4" seam allowances). Ex. 3.5"x3.5", 3.5"x6.5", 6.5"x6.5", 6.5"x9.5",9.5"x9.5", 9.5"x12.5", 12.5"x12.5", etc.

**limit of 1 set of 3.5" per swapper**

***PLEASE use ...100 percent good quality cotton fabrics... that are prewashed. No muslin or blends please, these will be returned.
Please use nice fabric that you would love to have in your quilts.
I understand that if you are using pre-cuts (jellyrolls, charm packs) may be impossible. Just write a small note and clip to each block to advise the reciever (s). Many fabrics shrink or dyes run... so please do this first step to make our projects something nice after washing and that we can be proud of.

*All applique pieces MUST be sewn down in some manner. Please, no monofilament thread.

*Embellishments: If they are bulky, please put them in a baggie attached to block if needed.

*Plain pieces of fabric are not considered a block and they will be returned to you*

*Place the block sets of 6 into a large plastic baggie marked with your board name. On each block, please attach a slip of paper with your board name on it. We like to know who made it.:)

*Return Mailing: You need to include $5.30 in stamps or cash for me to mail your return blocks to you. I will supply a PADDED flat rate envelope.

Delivery Confirmation is an extra .75 and I highly recommended it!

*Sign up deadline is September 5, 2012. Blocks need to be "to me" by Sept. 19, 2012. Blocks will be swapped and mailed out by October 1, 2012.

*Please PM me to sign up, and give me # of sets if possible. This is going to be a fun swap! Hope you can join the fun!
:)

Should you have any questions or problems please contact me by pm.

All general rules for swaps are here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

Oh no!!!! You are at it again. I do have some fabric and designs that might work for this. Let me make blocks. Ouch, my arm is being twisted again and foot got in hole, again.

You know you want to......:)
I'll call 911 for your foot. I'm almost there....hang on my friend

Crqltr 06-06-2012 01:14 PM

Embroidery?

QuilterMomma 06-06-2012 02:12 PM

Yes, embroidery. They are farm scenes and I have a couple of critter appliques that would be great. Ah ah ah, hold on, didn't say yes yet. The 911 emergency people have not gotten here yet, what you call from Louisianna?

Ms Grace 06-06-2012 05:03 PM

Well yea, I called from Louisiana.
They said for you to hold on....they are coming.
Might get hungry on the way, stopping for hamburgers.:D

Was purusing my designs late last night waiting for you to make it over Ms. Grace, and found I have a tractor, combine, truck, mill on the meadow, SBS gardening, some chickens, cows, pigs, dogs, vegetables, but just no fun fabric to go along with all that. I would have to add some bright green to frame my blocks or something. Does that work? I believe I do have some wheat type fabric. I do have an applique bunny. Oh yeah, a few redwork farm scenes if those help. Not saying I am signing up or anything, was just looking at what I had to see if I could do this swap.

Ms Grace 06-07-2012 07:32 AM

Well, sorry I haven't made it there yet. Kinda dangling off the edge of the cliff with a flat tire.
Was dinner good last night?
Your designs sound great. Not that you are signing up or anything....feeling a little twinge in your arm yet?:D

QuilterMomma 06-07-2012 07:36 AM

well, the foot is still stuck in that hole you dug for me. The paramedics have not arrived yet from the other swap. They must have had that four course meal for sure and then took a long nap. I put sombra gel on the sore arm that you are twisting so feels better so twist away, I will find a cure for the aches and pains. I sent the tow truck out to you. They will probably arrive mid August, just before the deadline to pull you out.

HomespunHandmaiden 06-07-2012 08:12 AM

Woo hoo! I think I'll have to do this one too... :D

QuilterMomma 06-07-2012 10:22 AM

Oh sweetie, I am not that easy.

Fraew 06-07-2012 10:35 AM

I forgot to officially say, "Count me in!". Come on QM. You know you can't pass this up. Puleeeeease.

Bonnie,
Got you all signed up.
Thanks for joining us.

QuilterMomma 06-08-2012 07:17 AM

While trying to find some chickens I made for another swap, I found this cowhide fabric that I bought a couple of years ago in Billings, Montana. It may work here. Ideas are rolling around in head, but have to find the time. I have to finish 10 ufos first.

Tam...Moo 06-08-2012 04:09 PM

I would love a cow block....works well for me

nise 06-08-2012 07:03 PM

That was great reading. Thanks

QuilterMomma 06-09-2012 08:05 AM

Hmmm, will have to see if I have a cow applique pattern. Oh man, I am in for sure now. How did that happen, oh yeah, my arm is broke off now. is going to be hard to finish these blocks with only one arm.

Tam...Moo 06-09-2012 09:53 AM

I will send you some super glue so you can reattach your arm and it will be like new so you can make these blocks

QuilterMomma 06-11-2012 08:31 AM

Would you put in the duct tape as well to hold while the glue takes effect. I expect the best of course.

Tam...Moo 06-11-2012 10:07 AM

Sure....we can brainstorm on quilt patterns while the glue is drying.

QuilterMomma 06-11-2012 10:28 AM

Sounds like a plan. Daughter helping me organize my fabric again so I can see what I have to work with. Nice to have a helper while the glue is drying on my arm. So, to find a cow. If I can make the time, I thought would be fun to do a combine or tractor embroidery and frame it with vegetable fabric. I think i still have some. Oh, what about a fruit farm? We can use apple, cherrie, strawberry, or potaatoes, carrots, lettuce fabrics. I think I have some. I can get some if need to. My family was big on potatoes. Love my dads taters, one would make a meal and we would make homemade french fries. Yep, lunch time is here and I have no lunch today. Hmmmmm and alone in office. get that.

Ms Grace 06-12-2012 07:46 AM

Quiltermomma,
Has the glue & tape arrived yet?
Hope so, I can't wait to see your blocks.

QuilterMomma 06-12-2012 07:55 AM

No it has not and it is just laying there tapping its fingers. Then I had to use the rice I had in the rice bag I am finally finishing to make for lunch. Yes, it was fresh out of the bag so had not been "used". Was not bad, at least low on calories. Good thing I picked up something at the store today, boss gone again and so would not had any lunch. Whew. Well, I will wait by the mail box to see if the glue and tape get here, did I even give you my address to mail it?

QuilterMomma 06-20-2012 12:55 PM

We fall asleep here or are we being quiet for little boy blue? Ah an idea, a hay stack.

SheriR 06-20-2012 02:19 PM

Lurking on the sidelines... :D

QuilterMomma 06-20-2012 02:35 PM

Looking for an applique cow pattern right now for that fun fabric I found so I can get ready when I have time to make blocks seeing how my arm is still healing. Duct tape and glue are here but taking time to heal.

Tam...Moo 06-20-2012 03:31 PM

Well if you must know I have been busy working on a quilt for a one armed lady..lol. Now I have a certification test on June 30th and I could certainly use your prayers for that and then I will do blocks for these great swaps.

QuilterMomma 06-20-2012 03:49 PM

Oh, you know that quilt you have been working on for that one armed lady who has duct tape and glue Ms. Grace mailed from down south, she has received it and it sits in her family room across the sofa to grab if needed since it is still cold up here north and there should be one arriving to you no later than Friday that is so cool, you will want to drop that certification studying to type on the quilt board again. Of course I will pray the word of God over yout o bring all that you study to mind when you are taking your certification test.

Fraew 06-20-2012 04:22 PM

Tam Moo good luck on your test! Can't wait to see your quilts. :)

nice selection.
Is your arm heeling any better? I saw some Gorilla glue today at Wal-Mart. It's suppose to be super strong.
Want me to send you some?

QuilterMomma 06-21-2012 06:22 PM

The duct tape is keeping it on for now. Thanks for the offer.

Tam...Moo 06-22-2012 07:27 PM

Thanks so much. I just wish I could remember like I use too.

Ms Grace 06-25-2012 12:08 PM

I'm working on my first set now. I'm doing a barn. Every farm needs a barn....right?
I'll post a picture when I'm done.
Let's start sharing pictures of our blocks. Maybe it will get others to join us.
I'm going to make a wall hanging for my kitchen with the blocks that I trade for.

QuilterMomma 06-25-2012 12:31 PM

I found some cute color book pages I am going to do. Just have to finish up my UFOs for this month then can work on my swap blocks.
