Coming soon; "A View from my window" ! Check back soon and often.

jacquie 03-03-2011 01:09 AM

hi, still at the drawing stages!! lol...
it will be interesting to see everyone's 'views'!!!

back soon!!

pattis47 03-03-2011 04:01 AM

I have it all in my head, but putting it on paper and then into actual fabric has been challenging. Things just didnt go the way I thought they would. Back to the drawing board. I'm glad I started early......would hate to miss the mailing date.

Have you started the AOTH applique blocks yet? I think I will do hand applique. I am not familiar enough with machine applique to tackle that project with a machine. Our quilt rows were the 1st machine applique I had ever done.

jacquie 03-03-2011 10:18 AM

ohhh, i really must get cracking on mine!!! i fear i'm lagging behind!!!

no, i haven't done any AOTH yet, i've been finishing my 'funky chicken' blocks lol... plus other swaps & 4 other sew alongs, some of which i'm behind on!!

back to the drawing board!

jacquie 03-03-2011 02:03 PM

have you started your AOTH??? if you have i would love to see it!!
did i tell you i'm using a med/turq cotton for the backing.
i bought it for a different project but didn't use it. i thought i may as well use it for this one. it should be nice & bright :)

pattis47 03-03-2011 03:15 PM

I have fabrics chosen to do the 1st several blocks. My plan is to work on cutting out the pieces and marking the backing for placement over the weekend. If I have time I will start the hand sewing, if not, I will have something to take along to work for my lunch hour. My new job gives us an hour break. I pack my lunch so that is alot of time to stitch.

Hopefully, I will have some pics for the "VIEW" row this weekend also.....we will just have to wait and see.

A quick peak of the start of block 1. Still waiting on an ok to make this block. Only just realised I may need permission from the trustees to use the image. Fingers crossed they come through. Otherwise it's back to the drawing board.
Please keep in mind It's at the very early stage here.Still needs lots of work.

jacquie 03-06-2011 03:26 AM

wow! it looks really fascinating!! looking good!!!!
yes, go ahead!! you're further on than me!! i'm still drawing & moving things around lol...
you certainly look like you're having fun anyway!!

lindyline 03-06-2011 03:46 AM

Thanks Jacqui, but I don't draw, I just go straight to the cut and sew part, and if it doesn't work, nobody ever sees it. Unfortunately, if I go ahead an dfinish it, and I don't get the required permission, I may be looking at a law suit. Finishing has to wait for now.

jacquie 03-06-2011 07:07 AM

i'm intrigued! what is it you're copying? and why do you need permission???

pattis47 03-06-2011 09:20 AM

Gee, that was going to be my question. It looks like the old Roman columns, so I'm thinking some sort of museum or cultural building.

jacquie 03-10-2011 02:55 AM

OMGoodness lindyline!!

lindyline 03-10-2011 03:01 AM

page 73/74 of the 'other' thread was seeeeew funny!!! i think we need to bring that conversation over here... if i'm not mistaken, did we have a disapproving finger 'wag' at us?? i couldn't stop laughing when i read it all over again to myself.

lindyline 03-10-2011 01:26 PM

That's funny Jacqui, I was thinking the same thing. I could just picture the finger wagging as well.

pattis47 03-10-2011 02:24 PM

I guess from now on we will have to type ; " Group 1 comments" to preface what we have to say?
I think rofl is confusing her! We will see!

here are some previews of my 'view'...

it's basically a bit of poetic license for art.
it's the River Clyde which we live on, with our cottage on the left of the view (which is 2 miles up the hill from the river... lol)
and the church where we were married on the right of the view (again, this church is down in Yorkshire in England, lol but i wanted it in my view)
we're allowed to put what ever in our views... aren't we? lol...
of cause we are!! :)

'view from my window', in the making...

jacquie,
Your artistic ability never ceases to amaze me.....your view can be anything you see or "want to see" of course because it is your view.
I am so anxious to see this progress.

pattis47 03-19-2011 02:14 PM

Jacquie,
You will have to remind DH that you will soon be a granny and will be on notice for stand in child care. You never know when you will be needed. A job would definitely interfer with that lovely duty.
Option 1: Rocking the baby
Option 2: Going to work.....
No Brainer....DH might lose that one!!!!!

lindyline 03-19-2011 06:30 PM

Well you really weren't trying very hard.

pattis47 03-19-2011 06:49 PM

Oh drat, we've been found out!!!!! Now for a more serious side, how are you making out with getting permission for your block? We haven't heard from your for a few days.
Hope the permission comes through for you. IT would be a shame for all that work to go to waste.

lindyline 03-19-2011 07:55 PM

Still no word. Will emial them again tonight, and follow up with a phone call tomorrow. Yes it's getting closer to mailing date, and I will need to do some work on it. Right now I have a border to finish for the IRR. Have only completed one and a half sides so far, so best get off here and sew, sew, sew.

jacquie 03-21-2011 03:23 PM

i wonder how the other ladies are getting on...
we know dayle is up to her eyes in pin cushions etc, but how about joan & betty??? they're quiet just now.
3.5 weeks until 'first' postal date, 15th april at latest.

i wonder if we need to 'remind' them we are on this thread as well. i haven't seen either of them on here yet...
:(
