Elisabrat's Summer Fun! Table Runner/Table Mat Swap SIGN UPS CLOSE MAY 5th

Elisabrat's Table Mat/Runner Swap

This Swap will close May 5th.

Welcome to my swap! This is a Table Mat or Table Runner swap.

A Table Mat would be any shape that would be a centerpiece; this should be a minimum size of 16" across the longest point. For instance, a hexagon table mat that is 16" from one corner to another at its widest point and each of its six sides are 8".
A Table Runner should be a minimum size of 12"x28". Table runners are typically longer than they are wide.

How it works:
This swap will be a partnered swap. You will work with your partner to determine colors and sizes that will work with them. THE THEME IS: SUMMER FUN!

Design and method will be up to the creator but since this is something that will be on a table and likely spilled on, make sure whatever you make is washable on at least a gentle cycle. Goo d grade cottons only no homespuns or non cotton fabrics in this swap please. You should make something you would put on your own table at home. Take your time, there is no rush to get it out fast. better slow but steady and you will be pleased with what you send and your partner will be thrilled to receive it!

Please PM ELISABRAT with the following information by May 5th. She will then match up names and get them returned to you by May 8th. You will have until July 1st to mail the finished product.

Board Name:
Real Name:
Phone #: (this will NOT be given to your partner, this is for my use only in the event that a problem should arise)
Do you have any allergies:
Do you have any allergens (cats, dogs, smoker):
Can you ship international:
Do you have the ability to post pictures:

It is encouraged and acceptable to post pictures of fabric choices, progress. I would love some lively conversation so lets keep this a fun forum to chat, bounce ideas off each other, assist each other as needed. There will never be a dumb question so ask if you need help. And above all else.. HAVE FUN! Encourage each other!

Please notify Elisabrat as soon as possible if you feel you cannot complete your obligation. Please don’t sign up if you don’t think you can achieve a finished product in the time allotted.

People who fail to follow-through and do not notify Elisabrat will be banned from any of my future swaps (should there be any) and your name may be given to other swap hosts. Obviously, things happen in life and I will certainly consider that, but you must communicate. I reach out fairly regularly to check on progress so there is no excuse for not telling us if there might be a delay.

So jump on board everyone and join the fun!

Now for the legalese.

****Please make sure to read the general rules that apply to all swaps here at the Quilting Board: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm ****

I am required to insist that participants send Elisabrat a monthly PM to verify that they are still active in this swap and are working on their promised project.

I am required to insist that participants notify Elisabrat as soon as they have finished their quilt and are ready to mail it.

Once I have received notice that both partners are done and ready to mail, I will send both a PM to let them know it’s time to mail.

I am required to insist that all participants send Elisabrat verification of shipment, to include tracking information.

Participants are required to ensure packages will not arrive “postage due.”

Any and all other fees, such as import duties, taxes, etc imposed by the recipient’s government are the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Absent legitimate and reported mitigating circumstances, participants who have not fulfilled their obligation to ship by July 1st shall be deemed “late” and risk receiving Negative [Swap] Feedback.

Please keep in touch with Elisabrat as required. Please let her know right away if something happens that will interfere with your ability to complete your project on time.

Swappers should treat each other as friends and focus on the fun. So … please be prepared to be flexible, patient and understanding if necessary and appropriate.

HI! I am temporary filling in for Anastasia our wonderful swap leader while she finishes her school semester. The girl is working too hard to be able to run the swap at this present time but I imagine she will be back and running for the next adventure!

I am hoping that all of you enjoy yourself in the swap and let me know if you have any questions! lets rock and roll and have some SUMMER FUN!

jaba 04-17-2013 02:39 PM

tracibug 04-17-2013 03:51 PM

Subdued I am, but I'm in...

My idea of summer fun will be to drink ALL THE WINE while I am child free for 4-6 weeks. Muah ah ha...

mrsmck 04-17-2013 04:29 PM

Definitely in..will send my info

Elisabrat 04-17-2013 04:51 PM

Jump on in! the quilting is fun! the concept exciting! you can chose to make a patriotic runner or a summer theme runner (whatever that means to you) talk with your partner and get a feel for what they might want. This is a quick simple swap, runners or table mats really dont take that much time and you end up with such pretty items. Think you can use them on your dinner/kitchen table, your coffee table, a side board, end table.. lots and lots of places. you could even pin them up on the wall and enjoy the color of the season :) your patio table? you can save it for a gift! shall I go on and on? Ok those of you who know me surely know I am capable (and willing!). Help me make this a swap that everyone wishes they had joined.

Most importantly please PM me with your sign ups. I will send a quick got it note back so you are sure your in. Yahooo!

TheMamaHauser 04-17-2013 05:37 PM

Alright, I'm in!

DustysMomma 04-17-2013 06:59 PM

You know I'm in. I'll get around to sending my info in soon. It's going to be busy the next 3 evenings, so I spend 3 hours at the nail salon this evening. My fingers are orange and my toes are blue. Alumni council meeting starts tomorrow. I have to work late tomorrow, but Friday and Saturday evenings are going to be dedicated to dinner with these kind folks. The least I could do was to meet them with pretty hands & feet! :D

Elisabrat 04-17-2013 08:28 PM

Welcome everyone thanks for the quick PM's. Dustysmomma I can patiently await your signature on the dotted line. um how many fingers and toes do you have 3 hours? 3 hours? omg. I would get my fancy chair pedicure and manicure back in the day and it was out the door in less than one hour.. wowsa. I even got a lower leg massage, never wanted it to stop.. and next part.. just what kind of party is this where they are seeing your FEET too??? lol.. dont tell us its probably better we dont know..

oh ok give it up. this is going to be good. I am guessing btw that those are your school colors? interesting choice there girl. I think it will go with all sorts of.. fabrics in your quilt bins!

Elisabrat 04-17-2013 08:31 PM

oh back when... I used to get my nails done is this fiery cherry red with a sparkle in it. toes and fingers.. it was called "I am a waitress red" (what the heck?) I am such a non stand out in a crowd type.. and here was one 'wild' part for me. lol now your saying blue and orange? guess I wasnt very wild after all. now I have a huge silver streak in front of my hair, no makeup, have to remember to put in the old front tooth retainer or heck I match my flannel shirts. yikes. ebner! get on over here granny needs her whisky..

DustysMomma 04-17-2013 08:50 PM

They were SO busy this evening. They usually do both my mani and pedi at the same time, but they were too busy. I get gel polish, which takes a while to get off, so that's an extra half hour. I had 3 that had to be fixed, which is another 10 minutes. It's usually at least 90 minutes when I go for both. I don't get the simple pedi though. I get the 45 minute one for the extra massage & other things. Since my problems started with my right foot over a year ago, it's worth it.

As for the kind of party, well, it's getting up to around 80 degrees here in Alabama, so I'm liable to wear some sandals either Friday or Saturday night. Friday is a bit dressier, so it's more likely then. Or, I might break out the peep toe gold shoes again!

Yes, orange & blue are the school colors at Auburn University, where my boyfriend is a department head. This is what not only allows me to travel with him, but also gets me into all the additional social events we have to attend. The alumni council is a big deal though. The most successful of the alums are on the council, and are here for this meeting twice a year.

AlaskaAlice 04-17-2013 09:14 PM

ok, I think I can do this, Elisabrat..I can do a mat. so count me in.

Yosamitesa 04-18-2013 07:03 AM

Ok...I'm signed up!!! I'm thinking batiks maybe??? They remind me of the tropics...however, if I get Tracibug, I have some AMAZING Wine fabrics!!!!!!!

Cheesehead 04-18-2013 08:44 AM

This looks like fun, sending you a pm.

babyfireo4 04-18-2013 09:14 AM

Since you asked so nicely AND since there's an entire month between the end of the booms swap and this one.... Count me in :) In an effort for full disclosure though, I neither have a table topper or runner or have ever made any. Hope that isn't a problem!

tracibug 04-18-2013 09:53 AM

Oh oh oh!! Yes please... something WINE-y would be fantastic!! I have a tall metal table in my kitchen that is the shape of a wine bottle and holds a few bottles and glasses. I looooove it!

Sadly though, I live within 30 miles of 24 different wineries and have been to 1. Pathetic, I know...

I sent my information in! I couldn't let Brat have a party without me, she is too much fun! I have some wonderful watermelon and green ticking fabric or some florals. Whatever my partner wants I am always up for shopping! I don't know what I really want, my house doesn't really have a theme or decorating direction, I have never really done anything about it. Maybe butterflies me and the girls love butterflies, but my husband would love something patriotic, a Texas theme would be cool. I am actually open, I like to see different techniques and fabrics!!!!!

kiffie2413 04-18-2013 01:10 PM

Bwahahahaaaa....you thought you could trick me by changing who runs this swap, eh??!! No such luck, as here I am signing up for it!!! LOL...Sorry, I just had a "Snidely Whiplash" moment...:p
Will pm you my info, Brat. One big reason I love this swap is I am trying to get better with my fmq, and this is a small enough project to be great for that...Um, if I would only stick with it and not revert back to my hand quilting...
Kif

Hi, Lynnie. So far I've heard tropical flowers, wine, patriotic, ice cream and Texas as possible themes. I like sea shells. There's others I can think of like flip flops, lighthouses and bikes. It will all depend on your swap partner and they are picked/ unveiled May 8th. Come on out and play!

Elisabrat 04-18-2013 02:51 PM

Kif, we can convert you can't we group? um your a diamond girl for hand quilting but oh my joy fmq or even stitch in the ditch.. you can do it cinderelli! this project no hand quilting for you. unless its all you really want to do. look no time best machine quilt it!!! welcome welcome welcome!!

I am only here this round in case Anastasia wants her swap back if not well.. its me kids. humor me.. or just roll your eyes and say oh heck its the BRAT again.. ready and willing and at your service troops! I am so happy with all the sign ups already keep them coming keep them coming. Everyone the water is sooo toasty warm! jump in with the gang its a very serious group we are. yuppers. very serious. first I have to look that word up but in some countries we could be considered serious I just have to see what countries are not discovered yet and yup that is the one! yup yup!! I am so wanting to make something to make someone smile :) I love these runners, I dont do decor since well mine is ecclectic at best. I do holidays and seasons! which cant match my furniture no how but everything works with the rest of the silly things I put out so its all good. I just love the change of scenary in the house.. same old same old boring. cant afford a new sofa every three months or year or five so well I change up the little things which bring a new life to the rest :) try it you will be addicted honest! its like popcorn for those who like just five kernels right? or cookies only one right? or pretty ornaments on the tree.. one? NOT happening. sorta like that only better. give me five I will remember why..

KGoodhand 04-18-2013 03:26 PM

I definitely want in on this again!!! I will send you the info you need now!! Woohoo!!!

DustysMomma 04-18-2013 04:47 PM

Ooh, I just had a thought....who wants a pretty red & white runner? I made 8 placemat sized Danish flags before Christmas, then didn't use them for what I planned to, so now they're pretty UFO's. In case you've never seen a Danish flag:

http://denmark.dk/en/quick-facts/national-flag/

I actually thought about making something quilty out of them, but I haven't decided what yet.

jaba 04-18-2013 05:53 PM

Dusty'smomma, a little blue and it's the 4th of July, no problem. Lynnie, you can do this. Summer or patriotic, table mat or table runner, come join us......after all I had never made a pin cushion or needle case. Would love to see you here also.

DustysMomma 04-18-2013 06:45 PM

I actually have some flag fabric. I guess if I trimmed it in it, it would be an international runner/quilt! :D

ssnare 04-18-2013 08:50 PM

I know how to make a 10 minute table runner and napkins to go with it. Beach and sea shells sound great or how about red and white checks with ants at a picnic?

sikesjj 04-19-2013 04:24 AM

I just dowloaded some free patterns from Craftsy.com that I could possible use. Its some intricate piecing but I think I can do it.

Elisabrat 04-19-2013 05:21 AM

I am hoping all of you are going to use a bit of batting in your runner. It helps with hot things should they be placed on it so the tables are safe :)

Lynnie this is an easy relaxed swap. You can be as artistic, quilty as you like. You can so simple, you can go wild its all up to the creator. The only thing that you will need to wait for is what colors or things your partner likes. If they say I sure would love patriotic then your colors would go that direction and if they want beach things well that can go from sandels, crabs, fish, water.. to just the colors that remind you of the beach. I am hoping most of you can work something out with your partner that pleases them but doesnt have to send you to the store. I am all about raiding your stash :) I do most things with a bit of this and a bit of that. And it usually works.

So join on up! I think if your looking for ideas go to Anastasia's Table runner swap and start peeking about half way into the forum and you will see posts starting of finished runners.. and the variety was great. I believe it was a spring theme last time.. we are also doing a side swap there for Tropical runners and near the end of the forum are some very nice peeks at runners being made. This can give everyone a great idea of what is being traded table runner wise. lots of variety. I will post my latest creation there when the sun comes up today so I can photograph it in regular light. Parrots and hibiscus flowers and happy happy brights to go with it :)

Elisabrat 04-19-2013 05:22 AM

ps I think a ten minute runner might take me an hour :) just a reference of how slow I am... like that turtle in the race.. I never finish fast but I do finish :)

Yosamitesa 04-19-2013 08:01 AM

I just finished a table runner for a friend that I used Insulbrite in so they can set HOT stuff on it. :) They LOVE IT!!!

tracibug 04-19-2013 08:19 AM

If you had said Finnish or Swedish flag, I'm your girl!!!

But these would still be pretty...

Me, me, me! I want a spot. Will pm you when I get home tonight.

QuilterMomma 04-19-2013 10:48 AM

I sent my pm to join. I have two table runners pieced and they need homes so I can be motivated to finish them. Yep, still those wonderful UFOs. I can post photos and see who wants to be a taker of which one. Have to get home first. One is a pink/red, green, tan, and a brown/green/pink/tan color batik. All of them are batiks. It is a round table topper. I also have a double wedding ring runner in greens and purple/red/brownish color of print fabrics. Very pretty. It is set with a cream and green coordinating fabric for background. These would be available. This way I could work them in to be quilted in June or May if I get to needing to experiment with a quilt design. let me know. HAHAHAHAHAHA Or should that be Elisabrat.

Yosamitesa 04-19-2013 10:55 AM
