I'm in also, my first tablemat-runner swap. Sounds like fun. Summer fun for me includes flower gardening, boating campfires, cocktails, 4th of July. Bright vibrant colors.
Terriamn Summer for me in the desert is scorpions, rattlesnakes, fire ants, dust storms, scorching heat and cactus that stick to the dogs noses. So anything thats green and colorful (and doesn't bite or sting) would be wonderful!. AZ KAT |
To funny ArizonaKat, you have lots of pretty flowers, even those cactus bloom girl

Ooh, or maybe a mat to use on the boat to lay on when the benches get too hot. I can think up some challenges for ya! |
Bright and summery!!! Make and receive.
|
Bright and summery would be wonderful right now, it's snowing again, we are in a winter storm advisory. Talk about a winter that keeps on giving.
Terriamn |
hope you will share the pattern for that triangle one, it is beautiful...willl you post the pattern or send if we contact you?
|
it is Quilter's Newsletter Magazine, June 2007. I think I could copy it and send it to you. I will pm.

It was 72 yesterday. Windy this morning but I believe that is to die down and warm right up again. I heard it was 90 in the bay area yesterday (NO THANK YOU). I will take my sunny day and be very happy. Today is a great day. The DH has one last day of being home on comp time and then he is going back to work!!! this is great. oh yes it is. I have dialysis this morning so only half a day! He is very sweet but he needed to chat every 15 minutes yesterday. I pray he doesnt retire soon or I may have to go back to work for peace and quiet lol. I get into this grove.. if its quiet and I can just sew. I started on my mug rugs yesterday. I wish I had a shorter sign up period but was worried someone might miss out on the fun. so if your that someone SIGN UP!! We hit the golden 30 so far! that is a great turn out and well whats 10 more right? or 20? jump on in! we are waiting for you!!
|
We have been in the 70's and 80's all weekend and yesterday, woke this morning in the mid 60's and when I get off work tonight it is suppose be in the low 40's. UGH.. I so enjoyed the weekend, atleast it waited until I came back to work. I get a 4 day weekend about every other to every 3rd week. I get to schedule my days and it is nice only working 4 days a week, they are long days, I work 9 am to 8 pm CST.
I work for an home portable oxygen company (battery operated portable concentrator) so it is nice having the freedom to work these hours. |
Measurements are such a good idea...it would be sad to get something too big to use:( I hope I get some good input from my partner....already my quilting ADD is kicking in as I sort through my stash....lol
|
Sounds like fun and I could always use another table topper. Patriotic, wine, or summer colors....doesn't matter.
I better pm. |
skaduzy!
Skaduzy!!! Welcome to the gang!! This is going to be so much fun ... oh and I dont agree its not ADD its called any excuse to go play with your fabric! I use them every chance I can get. Yahoo! Another one joins the group! and another one joins and another one joins.. and well how cool is that? variety is the spice of life we have a wonderful eccletic group here. this should be a ton of fun (imagining all the fabric posts and peaks and reveals!)..
|
Can I join. I could use a pretty tablerunner.
Grandma Di |
Grandmadi WELCOME to the group!!! The more the merrier they say :) I am so ready to get started working with pretty bright colors. I just finished a quilt top for another swap and its all dark blue and purple and greens and .. not telling but its a rich dark gemstone colored quilt and I am now ready to go light bright fun exciting sunny colors. You ever get that way work with one theme so much that you now want to work with anything but that for a while? Happens to me often. I love the booms this way you can end up with a quilt out of fabrics you love but dont have to spend hours playing with yourself :) variety and all that.
room for more. join us! |
And the group keeps growing!!!! So Elisabrat -- weren't you worried about getting enough people interested to join in your first, very own swap?? Can't wait to start!
|
I have like 5 different designs in my head with all different colors. One is with the wine fabric, one with all batiks, one with all farmer's market fruits, etc!!! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! How much longer until we get our partners so we can start discussing ideas!!!
|
lots of good ideas floating around , hope to get our swap partners soon?
|
I wish I had this very good idea (bad bad idea) of waiting til May so that people have the opportunity to finish up some things like booms and such and feel able to join this one too. We are now 34 and rising!!! (yes I was afraid no one would sign up if I was doing this..) I believe I would get in trouble giving out names early so I have to wait. Open to bribes of all sorts...
I wonder if I can say if you are making patriotic make start on that its ok and I will find you someone who wants patriotic. the trick is you probably have to want it back so I can let someone who wants to make it also swap with you when I hand out names.. anyone think that is a possibility? like I cant give you names but I can say 20 of you who want to make summer make summer and the rest want to make patriotic make that then try to figure out who gets who for partners? that way the rush bunnies can start and the rather wait and see's can wait and see... just a thought. might not even be legal here. I know in DQ's they start early some are ready to send the day they get their partners. some wait til last day of the month to send. so.. old advisers/kibitzers feel free.. jump on in give me your thoughts. remember your with a partner not a secret pal. |
ps I know with so many players it will be easy enough to seperate into those two groups considering ther are allergins to take in also.. plenty of n/s and smokers pets and no pets to get everyone safely a swap that will please all or at least most :)
|
Count me in this one sent you PM with information.
|
This will be my first swap of this kind. I love tablerunners or tabletops. For me any size would be great as I have different size tables or tops that can use runners. Wine ones would have a few places they can go on. Have a coffeetable and a few end tables that can also use some nice tops. So my theme choice would be something made with wine fabrics as the focus with coordinating fabrics to match. . That should be pretty easy selection for whoever my partner might be. Walls in rooms are white and have brown colored sofa and chairs in room I am up for any challenge my partner will send my way. I say bring it on and lets all have fun.
|
I think we are all anxious, but we can find other projects in the meantime. Hosting a swap is a lot of work, you shouldnt make it any more complicated than necessary. Just IMHO . Ask me how I know. Never hosted, but lots of similar situations. In the end, it is your call, my dear Brat.
I can do whatever you need, wont know what im doing til im half done anyway. Lol |

Either I'm sure would be pretty. I'm just trying to keep up with what the different fabrics/themes the people in the swap like. Is it color wine or wine motif? |
ok like your imho!

I can do whatever you need, wont know what im doing til im half done anyway. Lol It cooled down a whole lot today woke up its 40 again. So a 10 degree drop with wind. More like April. I am not terrificaly fond of too warm of weather and not all at once. So maybe 60 today perfect. I wish I had some wine fabric and I too love that burgandy color its so toasty. I am sitting on my couch with its two burgandy throw pillows. :) Thank you for signing up you will enjoy our little group of ladies. What kind of fabrics are you thinking about for this summer swap? |
I have a idea in my head, that is summer and patrotic. I hope my partner picks that because I really want to make it, if not maybe for myself. I am not signing up for anymore swaps until after summer is over, we are too busy and I want to sew for the girls. Then fall will be another challenge because I start homeschooling Jayla and Beau.
|
OH GOSH I just wrote to you about homeschooling and another baby. How funny is that! I think summer time they are home with you its tough to get much else done at least for me it was all about go go go keep em busy entertained and happy. I did have them all in summer school for part of the day then it was summer camp as they grew older. got them out with other kids no sitting around and well me a couple hours off too. phew. to do fun things like pick up, wash shop you know real fun things like that.
I am thinking your thinking double sided? summer AND patriotic.. interchangable I suppose. Girl btw its one day at a time go with what works best not what you think works best not always the same thing. ok did everyone else go into hiding and its me chatting with.. me all day long? where are you? whoooo whooooo? |
Brat I never got that PM or did you post it somewhere else? I just ordered my sewing machine and it should be here Monday, with all the feet and accessories. I AM SUPER EXCITED!!!!!!

Im torn on if I should wait until my machine gets here to quilt my table runner. I am terrified my other machine may try to eat it. But that is also waiting until the last minute literally to mail it, but I also want to do some of those pretty stitches on it! ANd I found the post you were talking about.
|
Ha! Brat, put me in the summer pile please! I just found my table runner pattern on the internet! Now I'm in limbo again . . . waiting on my partner to get colors. Machine is still in the garage. Looking like we're hitting 100 degrees on Monday. I'll be sewing EARLY in the morning (garage is still cool). Trying to get my gd home where she belongs . . . and get my sewing room back (with AC).
Found my first hairy desert scorpion just strolling through my kitchen like he owned it. Tried to schew him out the door with an envelope and the stinker chased me all around the kitchen. Every time i pushed him with the envelope he came back at me. Have to start wearing bigger shoes. Just had my flip flops on and he was too big to squish with wimpy shoes. He's gone now though. KAT |
yeah Arizonakat you cant move them you have to just squish the living daylights out of them. I loved my bug man when I lived there. After three months we only had one more scorpian/spider come in the house for the next 2 yrs. I think they are soooo worth it. I am not so much a bug lover. let them run free! OUTSIDE. The bug man however did not stop the little snakes from sneaking in. I used to have to broom those one's out of the house.
On another note: I am searching for a few pieces of lemon fabric. say 6.5 to 10.5 inches. willing to trade .. something for some :) if you have a piece let me know!!! Sikesjj. I think try to wait for your machine. Its too frustrating to work on that when you know every single stitch is a is this the last one that works moment. I hate getting that snarled thread out from underneath.. drives me bonkers. they end up looking like some eyelashes gone wild. ugh. and it reeks havoc on your fabric. If need be your partner can be sent a shout out about being late a tiny bit. I think they are pretty quick at mailing your machines to you now a days. |
Kat you dont have to wear less wimpy shoes what you need is a sneaker in every room and be prepared to do one good swack. Thats how I did it half the time. the rest if the shoes on your feet are right go for it.

Brat, are you looking for lemon colored material or material with lemons on it?
KAT |
When I lived in Arizona (my kids went to Red Rock High School) we just killed those suckers. lol I would hate to hair spray them to the carpet or kitchen getting that glue is awfully hard to off all the stuff. yuck.
OK I am here to say if your not finished with your runner please look at your calendar. There are only so many days left now before the 1st of May comes around and you need to be mailing. All of you said you could make that commitment please do your best to finish so your partner can receive their lucky table runners! |
nix that last comment that was for the tropical runner swap going on in Anastasia's last runner swap. DORK! (me).

I get it now. Thanks for spelling it out for me.
I can't wait to see some pictures of the runners. I guess next step is swap partner names first. Then, pictures of the fabrics picked. Progression pictures too? |
