A question I didn't see answered was - is there a difficulty level mentioned? I think I might have some difficulty on some patterns.

As for the new mailing guidelines -- I'm game to mail all at once for the savings benefit. But really, with the PO tracking, it seems unlikely to lose one in the mail. In all the swaps I've been in I've never lost one or heard of anyone else's getting lost. [I've had someone refuse to sign for my package and it came back to me. But none that actually got lost]

And do I understand this right? Everyone gets the same F8 to make the same block in the same colors? I've only done one other boom, but I really liked seeing the different ideas people had for my F8.

I'm already in a swap so that may keep me busy for now anyway.

All that said, I do love sewing and quilting and exchanging so....I'll roll with whatever the rules are if I decide to join.

Happy quilting. =D

I am encouraging everyone to pick realatively simple patterns as all levels will be in this group. No paper piecing. You pick your pattern.....pick the main color fabric you want and write what color you want to go with it. Then send it all off to me with the participants name on it. Each person who gets yours will make your pattern using your material and adding what color you choose to go with it. There is another Boom group where you pick your fabric and then the others decide on the pattern and you get a variety of patterns with your fabric. Does that help you at all.

PS The other group is titled Boom 11 and if you want to join you have to sign up today as it is closing today.

Please sign me up. This sounds like fun. I have 2 months to get my fabric together, yea! I'm excited about this swap.

INFORMATION: OK here are a few things for us to think about. I will be returning from Australia on FEb. 2. I figure that if we all have our F8's ready to go with the return envelops that we could have them to me by February 18. I should be able to have a list of names by Feb. 3. Then we need to decide if we want two months or three months to complete our blocks and then send back. That would mean that if we pick two months then finished blocks would need to be back to me by April 30th. If we pick three months...it would be May 31. We can think about this for the next month and then decide. I will go with what the majority want.

LOL I am in the midst of setting or restoring my home back in order. My daughter moved out after 2 1/2 years of being unemployed. She has a great job now and found a place for her and my grandson to move to. She was living in my living room as her bedroom and so now I have to restore my living room to a living room. My son is helping me with polishing the floors and moving the furniture and all that kind of stuff. So I haven't thought about the material I want to use for this boom. I better start looking. LOL. I think when I decide I will post it on here and the pattern I want, so that all of you will have an idea. I might even make up one square so that you can see what it is like. Don't worry, I will pick something very simple....no complications. LOL. They have some beautiful easy ones on Quilter's Cache.

What does 'boom' mean?

urgodschild2 12-12-2013 03:50 PM

Actually it is abbreviated for boomarang, which is a toy from Australia that you throw and it comes back to you. Everyone just shortened it to Boom.
