Secret Partner Pin Cushion/Needlecase Swap
#501
Today I also received a beautiful felted Blue Bird Pin Cushion in a nest from Blue Cat. I was so surprised. I have a beginners felting kit my husband bought me, and I tried it a bit, but didn't make anything yet. I have to work on it some more to get the hang of it, so I really understand how much time Blue Cat put into these beautiful Blue Birds. I thank you so much Blue Cat for your special creation just for me. It will be a conversation piece also. I have been busy today helping my dad, so I will post pictures of another sweet birdie tonight. Watch out everyone, there are birds flying around this swap.

Quiltermomma, glad your partner liked her cute mouse.
Lynnie your pincushions are very unique and pretty.
Oksewnsew that red needle book is so pretty. I love red, and the embroidery is so pretty.

You gals are soooo creative. I am just in awe! I could never get a birdie to look like that, but again I can't draw a stick person! Thank you for making such a great swap.
I am still working on mine. Didn't realize that I was going to be so busy this time of the month, but I will be finishing up this weekend so that I will be shipping on time. It would be a shame if the hostess didn't follow the rules!
I am still suffering with the shingles. Talked to a nurse friend today. She said that this could last for months. She was a little concerned that both hands and feet were affected. She said that normally only one side had them since it was a nerve thing.
Have a good rest of your night.

Tracey I hope you get over the shingles soon, and they don't last for months. That would be terrible, but I don't know much about them. The other night my dad started telling me that his dad, my grandpa got them after he got older. I hope I don't get a sudden case of them. lol.... I don't know how I would be with Lupus too.
I will be sending my pincushion and needlebook on time too. Probably on the 30th of April so I hope my sp's are patient that this time I am not an early bird. I will be sending priority, and with tracking numbers so I will know when they get them.

I am so sorry I haven't been able to respond, Tracey. I went to Oregon for a short one week trip, got home today. I tried to answer your post of a few days ago regarding if we could let you know if we're still participating. YES, I am. I just have to get my act together this week so I can finish the needlecases (the pin cushions are finished) and I will mail them out to my swap partners. Please bear with me. Sorry for being so late.

oops, my sister has "stolen" my fifth needlefelting. I guess I'll have a chance at the sixth.
thank you everyone for the nice compliments on hav4boys' bluebird pincushion. i joined pinterest and found lots of tutorials and supply sites. it looked so intriguing that i bought a sampler set and tried my first piece - this bluebird. wow, you just poke a barbed needle into a wad of wool batting or wool roving. use your hands to help shape it and the needle to felt it. now i've made 4 pieces and i just started the fifth. i have enough knowledge already to start more difficult pieces. it is so easy and fun. don't be intimidated if you think you'd like to try.

hi sikes,
i got the starter kit from Weir Dolls and Crafts in the wool fibers section. they have several choices. i got the set with two fifteen color sets of the ecofelt wool roving. i really liked the colors for the projects that i wanted to make. corriedale wool seems to be the leading choice among needle felters and that is another choice. later, if you decide it's fun, then you can buy individual colors. the kit includes a medium sized foam square upon which to do the felting to protect your fingers from being poked; two sets of colored wool roving to put final colors and details on your project; 1/4 pound of wool core batting to make the forms for your project because undyed wool costs much less tham dyed roving; five needles in different sizes for different uses; and basic directions.
i found out about dry needlefelting on pinterest.com. there were many examples of finished work and lots of great tutorials to show you how to do it. i didn't have to spend lots of time trying to figure out how to do it on my own . i really hope to go online to pinterest and do a search on needlefelting for the great resources.
hope you try it and enjoy it as much as i am.
love,

It usually is one one side of the body or the other, I have never seen a patient that had them on their hands and feet like you or both sides of the body. I know they are very painful and it can take months to get rid of.my brother described it as if his spot had electricity running thru it, he said even his shirt touching it made it hurt.
