Guess it depends on your needs & wants.
Did any of that make sense? HaaHaa!!

I agree with Vondae. I too have carpet but am thinking of changing to the laminate. I hate when I drop a pin and can't find it in the rug.

If you put carpet in sewing room don't go barefoot or atleast get a small magnetic roller to pick up fallen pins. Ouch!

I have tile that looks like a wood floor. Had carpet in the new house and it is now gone. Anything you can sweep versus vacuum is better.

i think laminate would be better . easier to clean and find the pins that are dropped .

We have tile throughout the whole house; easy to clean. The 12 x 24 blocks are wonderful on our cement floors, but the next ones will be cork. No problem finding pins or needles with our long magnetic telescoping pole, we can quickly pick them up. The idea of having heat under sounds wonderful. And lots of light....lots of light...over every machine and cutting table. We are retired and we both quilt...dh and I. Our home is 'lived in' and shows it.

A hard surface for me. Much easier to sweep/Swiffer vs carpeting. Easy, fast clean up.

imho

If your chair rolls, like an office chair, maybe carpet. I have wood floors and I can hear a pin drop...I like that :)

I removed the carpet because it was a mess with all the threads and not good for the vacuum. Put laminate in and just love it.

I have carpet now and hate how I lose pins in it (I can literally drop a pin and a second later cannot find it anywhere). My new room has nafco tiles. I'm crazy about checkerboard floors and we couldn't get them in the new kitchen or bathrooms (I wanted something all one piece in case of spills, etc) so I'm thrilled to have it in my sewing room.

We have replaced all our carpet with laminate flooring, kitchen will be next. When DH had my quilting room added on I chose laminate for that floor also......good choice! Love it, use a Swiffer duster, vinegar water to mop . So easy to keep and things don't get so lost, like a pin that can stick your foot.
