Antique Top I Bought at an Auction
I found this lovely old quilt top in an auction recently. I really wanted it because it is a glorious collection of old fabrics. I am so nostalgic about these fabrics! It's in perfect condition but if you look closely you will see 3 of the blocks have pieces that were put together the wrong way. I will be fixing them, eventually... Can you find them? ;o)
Even tho it's old, it was pieced by machine.

I really like that. I have a small collection of antique quilts, appreciate them very much.
I found the mistakes, I wouldn't redo anything. That's part of the charm of an old quilt, any mistakes just make it more charming, and redoing could take away from the value as it becomes older and more "antique"
: )

Very pretty, I did see all 3 blocks with peices turned the wrong way, which are not disastrous but I would fix if it were mine. It will be a minor job since it is not quilted. You have a keepsake there.

My mother always made one block different when she placed them. She said all quilts need at least one "mistake". I am lucky that I still have her...she is 94 and a lot slower now but she is still here!

I love it! All those fabrics..what a collection!
Just remember once you put a single stitch into this as a quilt or "fixed" top, it is no longer vintage, but NEW.
You might also find that the bright red sashing is also not original to the era of the blocks. Often times the blocks would be passed down, someone would add the sashing and still NO quilt.
In any case, the mistakes are wonderful, I would leave them alone!
