Do any of you make swatches of your FMQing designs?

This is a great idea, and your quilting does not look like just practice! I saw a video tutorial where the quilter said to put a name to your stitching, just like you have, and say it out loud while quilting. So evidently, you're doing everything right.

Sorry Anna, I have a mid-arm sit-down Tiara so am able to do small swatches, as would anyone with a DSM, which I used until January of this year. It would be up to you if the swatches would be handy enough for you to make a muslin quilt with blocks of different patterns. I'm just throwing my idea out there in case it would help others like me who have trouble visualizing a pattern on paper and remembering if they were able to do it successfully enough to put on their quilt.

You do a great job. I like your idea. I made placemats and divided up into about 4" squares but it is a really small surface to get an idea about a pattern and to practice it. I like your idea better. I think a SAYG sampler would be great.
