My family thinks I'm a magician with the sewing machine. It's a compliment but... Dear SIL needed a bag or two to hold ropes when he and DGS go camping. He got the idea to make bags from old blue jeans and gave me three pair to make these bags. Of course, I'm to figure out how to do this. And I did. He wanted a bottom that would be flat and he plans to use rope to run through the belt loops. Does your family do this to you??

Nope - family doesn't do it to me...I do it to me! I once made a looooong bag out of jeans to hold our tent poles!! Works great! That in the days before these quickie pop-up tents. I recently made a bag to hold the "skirt" that goes around the front end of our fifth wheel. My DH (bless his heart) would lay the dang dirty thing on our bed!!!! now that it has a bag, he puts it on the floor!!! Go figure----sigh!

Yes my family does it to me all the time. They confuse being creative to being magic. The last one was to create a wedding veil, so now my DD's think I'm going to make one for their weddings.

Oh, yes. I get all kinds of requests. I have made flags for the band, bags to carry said flags, tote bags, clothes, dog jackets, dog carriers, pajama pillows, tooth fairy pillows, Halloween costumes, and who remembers what else.

I usually get asked to help with small projects like repairs (not my favorite) or sewing patches on school shirts. I've also been called on to help with school projects. Sometimes my daughter likes to bring her sewing to my house cause she's not as experienced so I offer advice as she does the actual sewing. I don't mind cause it doesn't happen that often.

I am so very glad to find out I'm not the only one in this situation. Thanks for telling your tales.
