I agree, try taking them and show them to your Grandma, it just might bring back a memory for her. Even if she doesn't speak, she would surely like to see them. They are a treasure, especially being from your Grandma.

Mama couldn't speak or communicate, but sometimes there were things that would just cause you to know she remembered. One time, before she stopped speaking all together, she heard a truck running in the parking lot outside her window, and she said, "That sounds like Earl's truck." That was her son and my brother. He had been dead for a few months.

Thank you all for the suggestions, I hadn't even thought of taking the finished product to her. She could be a challenging person at times but has actually been almost sweet in her dementia. I saw her a year ago and am planning a trip probably next month. She doesn't remember any of us now but as long as she's not stressed it's ok.

That would be the perfect thing!! Good luck!

This is just my opinion, but I think sashing would be really unique if you would make it NOT red. Black or even something dark blue. With the old material that does not look like today's cottons, I'm wondering what some light-weight denim would look like! I know I don't usually think of a quilt and denim material together, but that's what struck my fancy as I looked at your patches!

Those are so awesome! I like the sashing idea with some black in it to really make the red hearts stand out. Have fun and enjoy!!

I agree not to use red. I would make a border around each block and do something with each individually, maybe pillows or pillow cases, and give them to family members as a treasure of Grandma.

Cute! I don't have any suggestions for them, but what a sweet remembrance to have of your grandmother. (Also, I know how it is not to know EXACTLY the story on inherited quilt stuff - I have a quilt my aunt swears was made by my great-grandmother, but my grandma swears that she didn't quilt. Don't know who to believe)
