I was given this quilt top and I was wondering what the name of the block was. Can anyone help me on this?... or tell me a good place to look AND THE KEY WORDS TO LOOK UP TO IDENTIFY BLOCK.

If you look in the quilting book 5,600 quilt blocks you will find several names for the same block. I have a quilt just like it. It is a variation of the Texas star, friendship star, morning glory, and several other names. I went to Barnes and Nobles book store and was looking through the quilt books and saw it in there. I am going to go back and buy that book. You would be surprised to see how many of the same blocks have different names and variations.

It is also known as the amber star too. Lots of names for this pattern.

My Mom makes Dolly Madison quilts but they look nothing like this one. I have a pattern too. Here's a link to see what the Other Dolly Madison looks like.

It definitely doesn't look the same, does it. I tried to find it on quilters cache too but there are so many variations of the same block and patterns. I bought the Texas Star English paper piecing pattern and it is the same pattern as her quilt and mine.

I believe I've also seen that as Missouri Daisy.

Isn't it ridiculous how many names the same block can have? It makes it real hard to find a pattern by it's name because the name can also be a completely different block.
