You took the words right out of my mouth. Absolutely stunning quilt. Great job. Hard to believe you've only made two. What's the other one look like. I'm sure just as beautiful.

Holy Moly!
That's your first quilt?!?!?!
Hand- or machine- pieced?
It's really beautiful. Perfect points. The colors, the setting, the cornerstones.

Fabulous!

I made my first quilt in 2007. My mom had been quilting for a few years and I really wanted one but wouldn't ask. My grandmother passed away and I needed something to do(we were very close). My mother had made my son a beautiful log cabin type with horse heads as the center. So after looking at it I measured and decided to try one similiar. I did not know about rotary cutters so mine was done with a measuring tape and scissors, the seams were ironed open (well that was how clothes were done) lol. I just kept making blocks until it touched the floor on all sides and then decided it was big enough. My mom had gotten a longarm so after I was done with the top I asked her to quilt it for me, Boy was she surprised) Rotary cutters I have decided are one of the best inventions ever!!

My first quilt was a gift to my grandma. I have it back now, after she passed in late 2009.

My 'first' quilt was made when I sold liquid embroidery paints back in the mid-70's and painted the clown blocks. I did not know that one needed a walking or darning foot and so there are some puckers in the fabric where I tried to quilt around the blocks. But I got it finished and it still keeps a child warm when we have any around. Will add others I made over the years if you care to see. And it is neat to see my progress.

I know...you didn't ask for it but here is the 2nd quilt I ever made. I found a lovely piece of fabric and made the quilt. I mainly wanted to practice hand-quilting plus I learned how to make mitered corners. They weren't perfect but worked for me. I went to some quilting ladies where I lived at the time and they were not at all helpful so I just figured it out on my own. I later learned that this was called a 'cheater' quilt because the fabric only looks like it was pieced. I still think it is pretty anyhow. Was a long time from mid 70's to 1999 but now I am really hooked. :-)
