Default "Mom can you make this?" Christmas advent pillow and quilt

My newlywed daughter saw an advent pillow at some store in October and I got the famous "Mom can you make this for me?" .....was so tempted to just buy her the $25ish pillow. Instead I monogrammed the numbers and trimmed it in a satin braid. I backed it in a Christmas plaid, since apparently plaid is her theme. And I stuffed it with scrap fluffy batting I somehow inherited from my sweet MotherInLaw.

Then I got a wild hair to whip up a quilt panel I purchased last year for said daughter's new boyfriend from https://patternjam.com/i/656034453. I have established a rule when my children dated...boyfriends or girlfriends do NOT get quilts. He is my (now) SonInLaw. I had dreams of quilting each deer head differently, in my rush to finish I opted for a simple diagonal crosshatch with my trustee walking foot. The newlyweds were thrilled with both. Yeah mom!

Way to go! Love the deer head quilt. The plaid just seems to make it work. I too have that no boyfriend/girlfriend rule. Nieces and nephews are always bringing them around and they are oh so serious at the time.
