    Hubby got this for me today for $10! It's a Singer 404! Needs a good cleaning and an oiling, but isn't she beautiful!!!!

    That looks like the German version of the Singer 404. Is it a 404G? If so, itís not very common in my neck of the woods. It appears to have the knock-outs for a treadle belt application, and the bobbin winder is on top instead of on the side.

    Great catch!

    PS-I would trade you, but my photo is of my Grandmother's second machine out of only two in her lifetime. I can't trade this one!

    Great machine. Either it was really looked after well or nobody used it very much as it seems to be in really good condition. Happy stitching.

    CD - The plate on it says "404-" but no G and I also can't find the serial number anywhere

    But I cleaned her up and she makes the most beautiful stitches!!!!! She really needs a good oiling and greasing, so hopefully hubby will have time to help me with that tomorrow. She really is in great condition!!!! She has a service sticker from 2001.
