Thanks, sky pony. It's a lot of fun. I've found that I feel a lot more free to just doodle around when I'm using either some pieces of felt (slap two together and you've got a sandwich) or some orphan quilt blocks that I'm not going to put into a quilt. When I FMQ on my quilts I tend to be more restrained since I don't want to overwhelm the piecing.
When you do start FMQ try to just let yourself relax into it and don't worry about stitch length etc. at first. I think it's really important to start out thinking of it as play--that way you don't put stress on yourself to be perfect.

Thanks, I am amazed at how smooth and wonderful it is for FMQ. I've FMQ'd on all my other machines, but this one is amazingly easy to control the speed--the foot controller is absolutely amazing, and I love having the needle down position, and then there's that lovely large harp space.....

But that would take all the fun out of it LOL! Seriously, thanks to everyone who made such nice comments on my doodle. I am so happy I bought this machine... And to think I got it just in time to be snowed in with nothing to do and no place to go
