New project: opinion on colors

Abby, I really like your quilt pattern in the link you provided. Only two types of blocks, half-square triangle and a four patch. Layouts make all the difference. You are so right in that any quilt pattern could be made scrappy as long as you have some high contrast. That is what makes the scraps POP in the quilt.
There is one quilter, can't remember her name, that didn't fuss over seam allowance just as long as you used that same when making your quilt. Thusly if you were new to sewing/quilting and a 1/4" seam allowance seemed to small then go bigger; your blocks may be smaller but you might do better starting out with a finished project that would not be a bed spread size! Lap size, doll size or baby size are good beginnings for those new quilters.
I prefer miniatures. Anything bigger than doll size seems like a bed spread!

I'm so glad someone is using it. I will eventually get around to posting the quilt I made for my son last year using those blocks. I think it works up really nicely.
Its not going to have as many colors as yours and only a 1 color border but I fell in love with the way it looked
Thank you so much for sharing
