I've wanted for quite some time to try my hand at garment making. I admire all the ladies that sew beautiful clothing with what seems like very little effort. This dress came together fairly easily so it was a good confidence builder for me to continue on with garments. It's funny but I think out of all the quilts I've made over the last couple of years, I'm more proud of this dress than any of the quilts. :P

Pretty dress for a pretty lady. Great job!

LeslieFrost 03-20-2011 04:49 PM

Very nice! I have not made any clothing for awhile, but it is just as amazing to have it come out right as it is to see a quilt block come together. Looks great -- I wish it were warm enough here for no sleeves and bare feet!

kiesh 03-20-2011 04:49 PM

Cute! Did you use a pattern?

Evelynquilts 03-20-2011 04:50 PM

Beautiful work!

That's great that you enjoy sewing and quilting. Once I learned to quilt, I gave up the sewing..it no longer held my interest.

suezquilts 03-20-2011 04:56 PM

Great Job!

Love the colors - when my kids were small I made their clothes and mine. Need to start sewing for me again.

cute model and cute dress...

carolaug 03-20-2011 05:02 PM

Love it....very nice. I have been thinking of also sewing a few dresses. I hate the styles in the stores and the quality is so cheap. I really would love to take sewing lessons. Its really sad that there are not many places that offer lessons.

susanwilley 03-20-2011 05:05 PM

You did a very good job, you should be proud!

cherylynne 03-20-2011 05:49 PM

It looks very pretty on you. The colors, prints, and pattern are young and modern. Sometimes it's just good to switch up your projects. I always made garmets when I was younger, but now I have more fit problems, so I do quilts. Maybe when I have a grandaughter I will go back to making her some cute outfits.

stacey65 03-20-2011 05:51 PM

Job well done and not as easy as one might think !!! Really pretty. Been trying to sew garments off and on for some time and have yet to come across one I will wear out of the house or many times in the house !!! LOL Won't give up though, now I've got a bood and cd on alterations , we'll see !!!

hperttula123 03-20-2011 06:24 PM

What a pretty dress!!!!

Texasjunebug 03-20-2011 06:26 PM

I took measurements today of my 7YO GD. She was visiting and after seeing my stash, she chose the fabric pieces she wanted me to make a "top with spaghetti straps." Haven't sewed up 100% cotton clothes in many years - not since they had to be starched and ironed! Anybody know if that is still the case with cotton?

RedGarnet222 03-20-2011 06:46 PM

How nice! You did a great job on it. I sew some garments for myself and some for others. It is something I have done since high school. I won't say how long ago that was but, I am a grandmother.

There is an interesting site that is very good to read up on sewing like this site. It is called patternrevew.com like here it is free to join and there is tons of information to help you along with projects. There is even sewing classes that you can take on line there.

I hope you continue on since you enjoy it so much. You do such a good job.

DawnMarie 03-20-2011 06:47 PM

I love it! I think that style would even look decent on me. What pattern did you use?

xsquilter 03-20-2011 06:51 PM

Excellent work! Good for you to branch out! Yes indeed, it does look pretty on you!

Wonderful work!! I think it's adorable and fits well. I'm also trying to expand my sewing skills, but I'm starting with baby clothes. It would be awesome to be able to sew for myself, though.

diannemc 03-21-2011 03:31 AM
