OK, so it came to me in my dream state the other night (though in black and white) and I could stop my new quilter self from cutting and playing. The thing is, now that I'm done it became instantly recognizable even though I don't know its name. So can anyone out there tell me what the name of this block is?
It didn't line up 100% but thought I did pretty good for a novice. :D |
I don't know the name of it either except there is an hour glass in the middle but I sure do like it.

I dreamed it in black and white, but didn't have any black material washed before the itch hit home. I'm thinking one in each corner of a quilt top would be nice. What? Maybe a nice trio of large whole pieced quilted panels down the center? White, black, white or some such?

I do not know the name, either but, you do a great job! Piecing those bias's are not easy.... I really like your colors in this and they make the design really stand out :D

I know I ve seen this to but was done in strips. then cut the trianbles and sew together

Exactly what I did too.

It seems like a variation of a Nancy Cabot hourglass square, but the center is different.... It is beautiful in the colors you have....and would be astounding in black and whites....Good luck. :D

You've been fooling us along haven't you Steve? You're not really a novice quilter are you?
That's a beautiful, well-made block no matter what name it goes by! Maybe it's an original. Henceforth it shall be called "Steve". |
I like the black/white, white/black idea --- very graphic. I agree, it doesn't look like a novice block to me.

Thanks for the compliments. I was going to ask how does one square a thing like this? I tried to run it under the machine following ideas I learned from the squares, but it isn't quite the same. Is there a way to pin it? I figured that maybe you all would have some thoughts on it? I really like the patch but want it a little tighter since the black and white would show every little flaw to an even greater degree.
