As promised, I finally am posting photos of my dream sewing studio. We built our dream (retirement) home four years ago. It is a rambler walk-out on a lake in SW Minnesota. It has 2500 square feet on each of its two levels. The lower level is yet unfinished. However, my sewing studio is in lower level. It takes up nearly a third of the entire lower level. The studio is completed, and is about 20 feet by 20 feet square. The room behind the studio is about the same size and is finished, but still needs a home quilting set-up (with a 10 ft. table) for me to be able to consider it done. Hopefully, when I finish school--we can get that so I can quilt my own tops. The photos are of the actual studio facing the lake.

Lots of supplies and nursing textbooks too!

Sewing area (sorry didn't use flash)--have a great little pull out that I can cut and iron at until the top gets to large!

The doors to stash storage are great as a design wall!

Library-reading area & new sofa I just got

Oh, I'm pea green with envy. I have moved out of my little 11 x 13 storage room up to one of the bedrooms (with a view). Your room looks wonderful.

What a beautiful sewing room. A wonderful place to create and see the lake too. Jealous!

kwendt 01-26-2011 05:53 AM

Awesome space and view!!!! Ah, I miss the snow! Nothin cosy-er than to sit with a nice cup of hot coffee, tea or cocoa, watching the snow fall, and curling up with.... my sewing machine!!!! Yeah!

Thow a cat or two in there, and I'd be in heaven!

Beautiful, you'll so enjoy it!

lakesidequilter 01-26-2011 05:54 AM

Gosh--barely got one photo posted and you were there! Thank you for the compliments. It took absolutely years to get what I wanted in terms of space.
Definitely a view or lots of light (at the very least is the way to go!)
Thank you again. You're very sweet!

Dawn: You're too funny. Yep, Minnesota--where we have something these days that looks like a frozen tundra! LOL

Gorgeous! Thx so much for posting pics. Inspirational for us all. Do I spy a Pfaff 75xx? Livin' the dream! Good luck in nursing school, I got a BSN in 1996, and it has brought me so many blessings.

redvette54 01-26-2011 06:32 AM

Great space and what a wonder place to enjoy the winter, from the inside looking out.

feffertim 01-26-2011 07:01 AM

All I can say is WOW

lakesidequilter 01-26-2011 07:05 AM

Thank you so much Maia...and not just for the compliments on the sewing room but also the encouragement about pursuing the BSN.
And yes, I have a Pfaff 7530 which I absolutely adore. I've sewn on it for years (with never a problem, I might add). I also own the 7570, complete with all the embroidery stuff but rarely use it with school being my focus. Once I'm finished with school, the 7570 will sit to the left of the computer (where all the textbooks hang out now), so that I can embroider at the same time I'm piecing a quilt top.
Again TY!

Your 'Dream Sewing Studio' is awesome.
The natural light and space is great to create and enjoy sewing in.
I would daydream with my morning coffee watching all the beauty looking out all those beautiful windows.

You are most blessed and thank you for sharing your dream that is reality now with us.

Blessings,
Sandi

I'm north and west of Worthington about 15 minutes, just outside the little town of Dundee. We live on the south side of East Graham Lake.
Where are you at?

What a wonderful room and I think I'd have to be pinching my self constantly to make certain I wasn't dreaming. Your vista is beyond words! Hooray for you!
