Default Remember my "They Went That Way?" It shrunk!!!

After purchasing some color catchers I finally washed my king size quilt. When I put it back on the bed, the size was amazingly smaller! It shrunk by 4" both ways! When I made it I thought it was too large. Now it is just the right size. Does a denser quilt mean a warmer quilt?

BTW: My color catchers caught lots of red dye.

Sorry, the picture is dark. In real life the quilt looks brighter than it did before washing it.

Lovely quilt. That's why I wash all my fabric first.

Beautiful quilt. Is that a Bichon I see taking a little nap?

What a beautiful quilt. I have also always washed all my fabric first, and yet, I received TUBS of cut squares last summer, which were not washed, and I have made 4 quilts, and love the feel of working with the unwashed fabric. That being said, I will still continue to wash my fabric. These quilts are shrinking some, but not as much as yours did. Sure glad for you that the shrink did not affect where you have it displayed. Again, beautiful quilt.

LOL!!! I did wash the fabric first!!! Maybe I should have washed it in hot water. Maybe the cotton batting shrunk the quilt.

Yes it is a Bichon! She cuddled up on the bed as soon as I put the quilt on it. She desperately needs a haircut from her groomer (me). I'd rather be quilting!

What type of batting did you use? Fabrics these days don't shrink as much as they did years ago. But cotton batting does shrink as does wool. It is lovely. I am glad it shrunk to just right
