Found this on Craigslist today. Is it worth $40? She says it works, but I won't be able to see if it does. I forgot to ask about the cover. She has the buttonholer and the foot pedal. DH is capable to do some repairs if it needs it.

Well.... I'd spend $40 on a dinner out, so if I wanted the machine...I'd buy it & stay home for dinner! (it's a nice collectible whether it works or not)

That's kind of what I'm thinking, but I don't know anything about value of old machines. I'm on fixed income and $40 seems enough that I should get at least a good meal's worth for my money!

I'd buy! Especially with helpful DH!

If you want it, then it's worth the money. I would try to talk her down because it's missing the plate on the bobbin area. Billy, aka Lostn51, may have a replacement for the plate, but that's a common part to be missing so it may be hard to find.

There are tutorials for cleaning and servicing vintage machines.

I agree with Irishrose, talk her down because of the missing plate. Otherwise I would buy it.

I've got an appointment to see the machine tomorrow. I PMd Billy for some advice and hope to hear from him before then. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy this. Don't you beat me to it, Char! LOL
