Default SIL's grandmother's quilt top

A few years ago my SIL asked me to make her grandmother's quilt top into a quilt. I happily said yes. I don't think she thought it would take me so long to complete. I couldn't decided on add a border or not, what color to use for the binding, how to quilt it, etc. I told myself that I was not going to have that top in my house for another year. It went out in the Christmas box. Now I will be nervious until I know the box is delivered. It should be delivered on Thursday. Her grandmother pieced this top in the late 1950's while her mom was in high school.

I have no ideal what the block pattern is. If any knows please share.

Thanks for looking.

Don't know the name, but you sure did the quilt justice! I love the backing too.

Flip flops?! Oh, I see, Florida. For here, it's been cold. (49 degrees now, warmest about 61.)

Beautiful quilt. Love the pattern. The block is called Checkerboard and you can find it here.

Thank for the kind comments and the name of the block pattern.
Yes, flip flops year round here. This morning it is in the mid seventies with lower humidity. During the summer the humdity is so high you don't want to leave the cool air conditioning. We love our winters. Summer not so much.
