Well ... not my favorite ... but ...

Here's a thought: we had a speaker at our guild that said if she didn't like the stark white in a quilt, she would put the whole thing in the washer with Rit dye (tan) and tone it down to a more off white color. Of course it will dye the entire quilt somewhat, but it gives it a subtler color overall. Worth a try if you don't like it now.

But I like it as is, too.

Next time, buy graph paper, four squares to the inch, and simply sketch it out and color it in to see if you like a design before investing time, effort, and money into a project. I know it's a bit time-consuming, but making an entire quilt and not being please takes even more time.

I sew liked your initial block when I first saw it yesterday. I have EQ--I got tired of using graph paper--and took the liberty of using your idea and giving it a twist for a full sized quilt. The blocks I used are 18" finished using 2 1/2" cuts for the 9P units so the finished quilt measures 82 x 82. If I would add 6" finished border I increase the size to 94 x 94--a nice size for a Queen size bed. Thanks for the inspiration as I wrangle with my scraps.
