I wondered if anyone else has ever been disappointed in a project they were working on? I'm fairly new to quilting and to the board (I read it every day!) I started a quilt with fabric that has been in my stash for awhile. I thought it was a no brainer because all the fabric came from one line and co-ordinates nicely. I have all the blocks made and spread it out on the floor and I don't like it at all! I thought it might be the color of the setting triangles around the outside edge so I went and bought new fabric for that and replaced them but I still don't like it. There's just something about it and I can't quite put my finger on it. Now I don't even want to finish sewing it together. I want to move on to my next quilt but feel guilty about wasting fabric and leaving it unfinished.

OOOOOHHHH YES!!! HaHa!!! I have had several projects start out great and just go all wrong...it happens to everyone!! Put up some pics and ask for advice...someone will give you the solution you're looking for!! :-) Good luck!

Sometimes, you need to put it aside, work on something else for awhile, then come back back and WA~LA! You fall in love with it all over again!! :wink:

Just put it aside for a bit and come back to it. You may just be tired of it. Sometimes I have to let things perk in my head for awhile when I reach a rough patch with a quilt, and then I'll come up with an idea that I like and go for it.

It is probably very pretty. Why don't you post a picture and get input from other quilters. Sometimes it helps to get other opinions and suggestions.

Sometimes you have to put a project aside for a couple of months and then come back to it. Your brain will have thought it all over (subconscious at work) and that might allow you to figure out what you need to change.

I made one, hated it when it was done, stuffed it into the closet, took it out about a year later - and miraculously liked it again. The memories of mistakes had faded. One day I'll actually quilt it...but not yet.

Ok, first off you need a HUG-so consider yourself hugged. Next, yes of course I imagine lots of us have felt the same way with a project(s). However since you are new to quilting I recommend you finish it, either now, or in the future. Sometimes I have forced myself to finish a project I didn't think was coming out well. And was then shocked that the finished quilt was pretty. Also are you planning on quilting it yourself? If so finish it and then consider it a piece you can practise your Free motion quilting on. Don't worry about any goof ups in your free motion quilting as it's just a practise piece. After it's done if you still don't like it, you can donate it to any number of great worthly causes. Believe me someone else will love your quilt even if you don't!

OOO yes that sure has happend to me. Ive put it down and I move on. Maybe one day I will go back.

I think we have all had projects like that. Sometimes it is best to just put it aside for a little while. Maybe in a couple months it will look better to you or better for someone that you want to gift it to!
