Dining room = Sewing room?

Hi do any of you use your dining room as your sewing room? If so could you please, please posts some pics? As of right now I have a little rolling drawer thing I put my odds and ends in. Plus I have a "beside my chair" ironing board made out of a TV tray. My table is about 36"X42". Between my table and the slider I have about 36", just enough to put my chair. My dining room is incredibly small so any ideas are great! Thank you. =) I can post a pic tomorrow. (After I get my clean laundry off the table ;) )

Dining Room Sewing - But of course!

I definitely use my dinning room to sew, even though I have a studio in my basement! I run my LA business out of my basement, which has absolutely no windows. I am like a fish w/o water when I can not get my mega doses of natural light. So I have migrated my every day sewing in to the kitchen/dining room. When I'm in the middle of my creating, it's not a pretty sight! And this is why hubby is building me yet another room for my every day sewing *giggles* It's going to have a great big window! He has made me agree that once the room is complete, that I will hide my creativity from sight when it's not actually being worked on. As incentive he's going to put in lots of cupboards (roflmao) Right now it's, "Oh, I will, I will." BUT once the room is complete we quilters know what's going to happen *evil laughter*

For me, I find I need a room that is not a dual duty room. If I had/have to sew in the living room, dining room/etc., I'm not going to sew, it's too much of a hassle to clear off everything to set up my sewing stuff, then have to clear it off before sitting down to dinner, etc. I understand that not everyone is able to have a separate room but I guess that we all do what we have to do.

I have my sewing machine cabinet behind the couch in the living room. My cabinet has an ironing board attached. The cutting table is behind the stereo. The fabric is in various locations around the rest of the house. This wayI can properly supervise the DH. My house is not a show case, but it works for me.

I always have a sewing machine on the dining room table (unless guests are coming for dinner). We have a breakfast bar where we have our meals tho (we are empty-nesters).
I also have a huge sewing room in the walk-out basement where my mid-arm, cutting counter, and the rest of my sewing/quilting stuff is. I kind of like it that way cuz I have to get up and move if I need anything from the sewing room.

I am spread all over my house. I have my sewing machine in my dinningroom, fabric in my bedroom and a folding table for cutting my fabric in my familyroom. We are moving soon and there will be a room that I can set up as my quilt room.

I converted my DD's room to a guest/sewing room back in Feb when she moved out. I love, love, love my space, and having a comfy bed for guests also. BUT, I don't have room to spread out a BIG quilt on my smallish cutting table. So,
a week ago I brought the crib quilt down to spread out and mark for applique. Then I figured it'd be easier to bring my machine down, and of course I needed my iron and ironing board, and while I was at it, blah blah blah. AFter a week, my DH said, "I thought you had a sewing room! Do you need two? REally?" I said, "No, I need three." I thought it was funnier than he did, and promised to clean it up the next day, which I did.

HA! I wish I had a dining room ! Mine is right on the kitchen table , And my washer and dryer are also in the small kitchen LOL. So I guess you would say my kitchen is the kitchen/laundry/sewing studio !

I use to use the dining table for cutting large pieces of fabric. I use to quilt on the table also. Now that our oldest Granddaughter has moved out I took the room as my sewing room. I use to have to share my little sewing room with 3 cats. Now I don't. I use to have to put everything away at night so the cats wouldn't get hair all over my stuff.
I love my new room and only use the dining table to sandwich my quilts and cut backings on.
Whatever works for you is what you should do.
