Fruitcake
I must be the only person that likes fruitcake. Where is the best place to buy one? I had the name of a bakery in Sacramento, Ca on my computer but it died, and now have no idea how to locate that bakery.

I love fruitcake! My favourite is a blond fruitcake that my mother used to make at Christmas time.

I second the vote for Collin Street Bakery. Theirs are super yummy.

I used to make them around October and then season them with brandy until Christmas...everyone liked them :)
|
I only like the homemade kind with pecans, walnuts, cherries and cranberries
|
I love them, too! but have not had any in years!

My favorite is the one that Assumption Abbey in Missouri makes.

I have made the white fruit cake recipe found every year the day after Thanksgiving in The Tampa Tribune. It is called Mrs. Harvey's fruit cake. I have all the ingred, purchased, and will make it this week. It does not have any booze in it, however, stays wonderfully fresh long long time(if it lasts that long , mine usually has to be rationed out sparingly in order to have any at Christmas.) Will post the recipe later if any one is interested...........

Yep!!! http://www.assumptionabbey.org/fruitcakes.asp the years that I don't make my dark fruitcake...I purchase theirs!! They are wonderful!! They taste like my recipe!! The Monks are so cute! (I hope that is ok to say). I love their recipe!! BUT you have to order ealy! They sell out!! No way would I buy a chemical-infused "fruitcake" that stores stock. Yuck! Gives fruitcake a bad name! All natural ingredients for me! sandy |
