What to do with muslin?

The homespun question prompted me to ask about muslin. I have 50 yards of bleached high quality muslin. We are preparing to move. I only make quilts anymore. Any reason to save it? It's all the same color and on the same bolt. HEAVY. Ideas anyone?

It's a great look when pieced with 1930's reproduction fabric! Or, it can be backs for quilts. You can also dye it if you are so inclined.

I use it to back my table toppers & table cloths. I also use it it I need a plain white in the project. I only buy good quality muslin. Love the fell of it.

I back a lot of my bed quilts with muslin. With the bed made, you never see the back, and the quilting looks so nice. Same thing with table runners and wall hangings. I save my pretty backing for throws, where you are going to see both sides.

Wish it was mine. I have LOTS of uses for it.

Keep it!! Good quality muslin is getting harder to find. A Dresden Plate quilt looks super with muslin background and backing. Scrap quilts look good with muslin as the neutral.

It would work great in a 2-color quilt, particularly with red. Also it works great as the neutral background in scrappy quilts. AND it is a great background for applique. I would NOT get rid of it.

I back most of my quilts with muslin and since yours is high quality then that is a suggestion. Also, making a quilt with homespun and muslin makes a cozy quilt.

Great advice. I will make room for it in the keeper pile(s). I make about 100 quilt tops a year for charity and I won't hesitate to make use of it thanks to your kind input. The Quilt Police will just have to get over it!

background for applique, embroidery, backing, piecing with other fabrics. Lots of uses really
