I think I'll join you all because I've been looking at the scrappy swoon al on Hopeful Homemaker for quite a while. For some fun, I'm going to try teal as my primary, pink as secondary, and black as background. Let's see what happens! Yay!

TheRealStitchersofTexas, Welcome to you too! :-) I'm going to make a dark background too. I'm planning to use dark blues and navys. I like the light backgrounds, but I don't have so many light fabrics as I do dark ones. Trying to go with what I have already in my stash. I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out!

I just got back from a memorial service for a good friend.

    Here is STEP 2:

    12 4” squares of background**
    12 4” squares of yourprimary color **
    24 3 ½” squares of background
    24 3 ½” squares of yourprimary color

** Please use your preferred method for making your HST’s and adjust size of squares as needed.**

Sew 24 HST’s using your primary and background colors to measure 3 ½” unfinished (or whichever size you’re using).

We will be using six primary and six background squares and six HST’s per unit. Arrange your rows with the background squares creating the center of our large pieced flying geese unit and the primary colors creating the points for our center star.

This unit will measure 18 ½” long by 9 ½” wide. Sew four of these units.

    Lynnie -

Look through the first couple of pages and you'll see examples of what we're working on. You'll also find a link.

And, yes the Swoon block goes by a few different names as do many quilt blocks; Swoon, Carpenter's Star and Dutch Rose are the names I know of.

This is a 'blown up' version of the very popular Swoon quilt block that is usually 12" or 24". Kind of like a Swoon on steroids, if you will. . . . lol

Anyway, we're having a blast. Jump in if you're interested!
