Muv ... you're making this seem all too easy ... there must be a catch!! :D

Ok I am really excited by this challenge, I just discovered it and my head is spinning.

I've designed several Canadian cross stitch patterns but have yet to work out something in my quilting. Yay, a new goal!!!!

I'm Cree Nation as well, so maybe I can incorporate some of the fabric I've seen that is more native oriented. Gotta go shopping!!!!

Glad to have you along
YukV!!!!! :D :D :D

Works4me...I'm so glad that the pencil came out and one more UFO done. It will make a beautiful focal point and I think the idea of borders for it make sense. It could make the maple leaf stand out even more.

Muv...I'm looking forward to your lessons too. Appliqué is beautiful when it's done right but I'm a little intimidated by it.

YukV...I would love to see native prints. Where are they available?

I got a call last week that I can pick up my 3 quilts from my LAQ on Monday so this next week will be binding quilts. I've planned ahead enough to have my PC blocks done and should be able to finish the crib quilt I'm binding today. A little quilting a day gets a lot done but the Texas Star has time slots a little later this month although I might get it out of the box and put it on my design wall for inspiration. It's king size so the whole thing doesn't fit but seeing half will help.

GGal .... Glad to know you'll be keeping me company in June, when the others are sitting back and "enjoying" their work! Looks like you and I are much in the same mode ... I did some finishes yesterday and plan for the same today. And am waiting anxiously (actually more than that) for my FWS to bind!

In the meantime, I'm thinking of more projects than Monty!!!!!!! :)
Be proud of me,
W4Me!!!

Welcome YukonViv. So glad you are coming along for the ride. As I noted earlier, the project doesn't have to be a quilt. From the last few weeks I know how time consuming even a simple cross stitch can be so, if that is what you want to do for your project, I'm all for it. But, having said that, I'd LOOVE to see some of the native prints to which your refer. You may create a lot of business for the store at which you purchase the fabrics by showing them here. :)
Looking forward to photos.

gardnergal970 - sounds like a lot going on. We are here to cheer you on.

Yes, QuiltE, I am proud of you.

As to my project, I have to take a short break as I officially allow myself only one project of each type (cross stitch, quilting, knitting) at a time and I have to finish up my Mystery block quilt before I can continue on with my Canada Deh quilt.

Back from visiting the National Quilt Museum in Kentucky, USA. I had lots of fun and learned alot also. Visited quilt shops along the way. You all were very busy while I was gone. Probably wont get back to working on patriotic quilt until Monday or Tuesday though. Oh and while I was on this trip I have decided Its time I learned to cross stitch.. lol. What fun what a mess..so much to work on and more to learn.

Hi, I have kept up with the reading of this thread, but I now have to admit I have just too much on my plate right now to even try to be done by July 4 (I haven't even started) I have several baby quilts that have to be done, and several other things more important. So please count me out for now. Mine will most likely be ready for July 4, 2013. Thanks for the good reads. I will keep up with reading your thread. MargieLou

I don't know the name of the line of fabric, I checked what I had (fqs) of this line and I don't have a selvage edge so that doesn't help. I'm going to our LQS this week so I'll check the name.

Here is one of the shop's monthly kits using one of the fabrics..the others have totem poles, bears, etc.

The shop is Bears Paw Quilts here in Whitehorse. (editing to add shop address: http://www.bearspawquilts.com/ )

Viv - Love the picture on the shop's website of all the ladies in the snow wrapped up in quilts! Looking forward to hearing more about your projects.

Hello Jenniky - You must be really inspired now after your visit to the quilt museum. It sounds wonderful.
