Famous Oatmeal Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups QuakerŽ Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Preparation
Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat brown sugar, shortening and granulated sugar until creamy. Add egg, water and vanilla; beat well. Add combined oats, flour, salt and baking soda; mix well.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered.

1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 small egg
A little milk, if needed
Heat oven to 350. Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder. Stir in the butter; the batter may be a little crumbly like biscuit dough. Add the sugar and oatmeal. Mix in the egg and a little milk, if necessary to hold the dough together. Drop dough by the teaspoonful onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake about 12 minutes.

1/2 cup butter or shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°
Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda.
In a separate bowl cream together the shortening and both sugars until light. Works best with a hand mixer or kitchen aid mixer. Add the vanilla and egg and mix well.
Stir in the dry ingredients and mix well.
Drop by tablespoon full onto a baking sheet and place in preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are slightly browned. Remove from oven and let sit for a few seconds before removing them from the baking pan. They will fall apart if they are removed to quickly.
Cool on a wire rack.

I can not have any kind of nuts. The recipe is needed because it helps my crohns disease. (I get very sick at my stomach and the oatmeal cookies settle it down sometimes. The maple syrup sounds great. I have never seen a no bake recipe. I am just looking for regular cookies.

1 c. Coconut
1 c. nuts (optional)
Blend or mix all ingredients except raisins, oatmeal, and nuts. Batter will be soft and smooth. Stir in oatmeal, raisins and nuts.
Spoon onto greased cookie sheet. Cookies will be plump so use desired measuring spoon. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields approximately 6 dozen.
