I tried to use Martha Stewarts Recipe twice now, first time is was too sweet, second time it was just soggy!
I need a good recipe that even my 5 year old would eat? Is this possible?  |

Here's my recipe hubby just loves gravy so I usually do 2 cans of the mushroom soup. (if you dont like mushroom you can use cream of chicken. I hope you enjoy.
2 Lbs Ground Beef 1 envelope of dry onion soup mix 1 can cream of mushroom soup Mix the beef and onion soup mix together and shape into a loaf shape on HEAVY DUTY foil. Put the mushroom soup on top and fold the foil so nothing can leek out. Put in on a pizza pan and bake at 375 for 1 hr 15 min. Make mashed potatoes and when you remove the meatloaf you have this great gravy for the potatoes. |
i know someone that used salsa in thiers! i love meatloaf..i use tomato soup instead of paste of sauce.

I hate soggy meatloaf and came up with this solution.
Make your meatloaf early in the day by whatever recipe you like. Allow it to cool pretty well and then slice it. When it is time to serve, pop the slice meatloaf under the broiler for a couple of minutes on each side to crisp up a bit. My family likes it much better that way. |
When I make mine, I usually put a couple of slices of bread on the bottom of the pan, then put my loaf on top of that so it can absorb all the extra grease.

I got this from the Taste of Home website and we love it. I was never happy with any meatloaf recipes I tried before this one, and now my husband asks me to make it! I hope you like it too.
Li’l Cheddar Meatloaves 1 egg 3/4 cup milk 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 pound ground beef 2/3 cup ketchup 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1-1/2 teaspoons prepared mustard Directions: In a large bowl, whisk egg and milk. Stir in the cheese, oats, onion and salt. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into eight loaves; place in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar and mustard; spoon over loaves. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until no pink remains and a meat thermometer reads 160°. Yield: 8 servings. (FYI - I increased the cooking time from the original recipe as 25-30 mins just didn't seem long enough. Plus, we like the browned edges. Also, I use only about 1 Tblsp brown sugar in the sauce that goes over the loaves as we don't like it quite so sweet.) |
Hi, Here is my standard meatloaf recipe. We really like it; it cuts easily, and the flavors blend and the taste is really blended. A friend gave it to me, but she got it years ago from a Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.
DOROTHY'S MEAT LOAF 2/3 c. dry bread crumbs 1 c. milk 1 and 1/2 #ground beef or part sausage 2 eggs, beaten 1 t. salt 1/2 t. sage dash papper 1/4 c, grated onion Soak bread crumbs in milk; add eggs, meat onion and seasonings. Mix well. Put in loaf pan and cover with sauce. SAUCE; 3 T. brown sugar 1/4 c. catsup; 1 t. dry mustard Bake 350 for 1 hr. Serves 4-6. ***I use half and half sausage and ground beef. ***You don't need to soak the bread crumbs but maybe a minute. ***SAUCE: My husband is diabetic, so I usually just squirt ketchup over it before baking. The ketchup sinks down into the meat loaf and we really like it for that. ENJOY !!Marta |
Wow these are Great. I think martha stewart meatloaf comes out greasy - too much ketchup in hers.
