I am talking about quilting straight lines only, usually using rulers. It is often called ruler work. It can also be combined with free motion, but I am interested in the straight line ruler work.:)

A fat quarter wouldn't be big enough. It looks to me like if you need 18-20" you need at least a 1/2 yd piece. More if you want to use it as your sashing.:)

Hi Marta, :) You are sewing the triangles side by side into a larger triangle instead of hst's. I don't know if you can cut them down to size after sewing, maybe someone else knows how.
