Default New Quilting Bee May, 2017

Happy May Day everyone. The sun is finally out after a very wet, wet weekend. Thought we were gonna float away. It looks so clear out now.

I'm glad to see so many making their blocks. Here's a couple I hope you enjoy. Retiredteacher09 picked the Evening Star, and I picked the Duck & Ducklings. Please scroll down on each to find the instructions for the 10" block.

The one rule is that when you have made your block, you must post a picture(s) in order to be in the next month. The blocks will be 10” finished.

We welcome new participants. Just send me a PM or post on the New Bee for the month and I will make note that you would like to join. I hope that everyone who wishes to join, stays with us for the year. Even if you have to play catch-up, one block is all it takes to stay in. Have fun...

Having a time of printing off the patterns without printing a lot of pages.

Ann, I copy and paste into Word, and 'clean' all the extra stuff out. Makes it easier for me. If you can, you might try that.. Here's my Evening Star block.. onto the next one now.

Oksewnsew: I love the embroidered butterfly! I thought of embroidering something in the middle but I still need more practice since I just got my embroidery machine last month.

AnngelAnne: I sometimes take a picture with my phone/IPad of the directions I need/want or bookmark the page. I am not copying the patterns on paper.

Off to work on the second block on this gloomy, wet day.

Ducks and Ducklings and 8 that I am putting together for a baby boy's quilt.

I thought my piece of scrap fabric would be big enough for the whole block but I didn't think it through clearly and didn't have enough for the 2.5" by 4.5" strips. Oh well. I still like it.

Wow Connie all of your blocks look great together!

I am finished with one of the blocks. We will be traveling soon back to Wisconsin and I want to get the blocks finished before we leave. Tomorrow I hope to start on the second block for this month.

Cheesehead: Nice block! Have a safe trip back to WI and thanks for the compliment on my blocks. I have been trying to coordinate them as I go along and use as many of the donated batik scraps as possible but many of the scraps are getting too small to use for these blocks so I'm looking through other scraps to supplement. Sometimes it takes longer to find the fabric I want to use than to sew the block. Lol!
