NEW HOME MODEL 446 Sewing Machine in cabinet. This heavy-duty, all metal machine is in excellent condition. Has had a complete overhaul done one time. Smoke-free environment; regularly oiled and cleaned. Purchased in 1968. Included is a custom-made cover, which turns the cabinet into an attractive piece of furniture. Straight stitch, zigzag, designs using cams (included), easy to adjust tensions, feed dogs drop for free-motion quilting, appliqueing, darning, embroidery, etc., stitch length regulator, forward & backstitch sewing, adjustable needle position selector, hemmer foot, zipper foot (very easy to use & sews in zipper beautifully), quilting guide, braid attachment foot, blind stitch hemmer foot. Also includes Ruffler attachment.

Does this look like a good investment?

I am including pictures from Treadle On website which states that this one of the most sought after cabinets.

What a gorgeous cabinet...someone rescue it before someone who is ONLY interested in the cabinet gets to it and removes the machine...please...

The only thing I request is if anyone lets this machine follow them home :) Please post pictures and tell us about your adventure at the auction.

BTW, No, I am not trying to be an enabler for those who resue treadle machines. Just "wished I lived closer" treadle stocker. LOL

I have just gone through this with mine, and though most of the Singer bobbin cases are a piece of cake to reassemble, this one is a PITA. Here's the link that helped me; hope it helps you, too!!

Scroll down to page 6, and good luck!!

What do you think? Does anyone have a really good picture I can look at? I saw a couple on the web, but can't get a mental 3D of it yet.
Cindy Peters <[email protected]>

carries these springs. They are very cheap, and relatively easy to replace. I tried bending one--I have a Pfaff 31 treadle that needed a new spring--but the results were less than spectacular.

The tyres I got for the bobbin winder were far too small, but I cut one in half, and a section from another, and superglued the cut ends together. Voila! Necessity is the mother of invention, they say.
If that one doesn't hold together, there are larger ones available. I had an old Kenmore that had a big internal tire, Sears wanted $6 plus shipping. It would be over $10 for a $5 machine!! I keep a supply of tires on hand, and I think it was the Bernina type that fit. They cost a little more than the Singer type, but not $10+!
